Throughout your adventures in Metaphor: ReFantazio, you will encounter a lot of bosses, either as part of the main story or in the various optional dungeons you explore. One of the optional dungeons you can explore while in Brilehaven is the Forsaken Tower, which is necessary to complete two side quests. At the top of the tower, you will have to face the Orgas giant, who can put up quite a challenge.
All of Orgas’ Attacks¶
The Orgas is similar to the Orgo enemy you’ve fought inside the Forsaken Tower, as it has a lot of the similar skills, except it’s going to be stronger than those.
-
War Cry: The boss will scream, which lowers the attack and defence of the whole party by one tier.
-
Earsplitting Shriek: Probably the most annoying move by the Orgas, as this will attempt to inflict Daze on the whole party.
-
Skull Cracker: A physical attack on a single character, that may inflict Forget.
-
Soul Cry: This move will grant two more Turn Icons to the boss. Will always be followed by Heat Riser.
-
Heat Riser: This is a buff that will increase attack, defence and agility by one tier for three turns. Always preceded by Soul Cry and followed by Charge.
-
Charge: The boss will use this after Heat Riser, and it increases the damage of its next physical move.
-
Slam Shatter: Seems to always be the follow-up after using Charge. This attack hits the entire party for some major damage, so you should block prior
-
Slam Strike: Physical attack that hits a single character.
Orgas Boss Strategy¶
This can be quite a challenging battle, since the Orgas is very strong, but it does follow a pattern, so you can anticipate what’s going to come next. First and foremost, the boss resists Slash, Pierce and Strike, so the majority of physical attacks are out of the question (maybe one exception here, which will be talked about in a little bit). It takes full damage from all other elements, and is weak to Dark, so having Mudo (or other variants) will help get you some extra Turn Icons.
The biggest hurdle with this battle is that the Orgas will pretty much follow a similar pattern to the normal Orgos that you encountered in this same dungeon. It will probably start the battle by using War Cry to lower your party’s attack/defence, then try to inflict Daze on them all with Earsplitting Shriek. There will be a round or two of attacking, then the Orgas will will go into the whole routine of buffing itself. It starts with Soul Cry to gain two more Turn Icons, then go into Heat Riser and finishes with Charge.
When it does this, it’s a good idea to guard on your next turn, as it will use Slam Shatter to hit the entire party. While you won’t be able to dodge this maneuver by guarding, it will reduce the damage done, so it’s better to be alive and head after the fact, than have to waste an action (or more) resurrecting people that have been downed. The boss can use Slam Shatter outside of this, too, but it won’t be as powerful. There is one thing you can do to help with survival a bit more, but it involves mastering the Knight Archetype.
Doing that will get you a skill called Shield Arts, which isn’t going to deal a lot of damage, since it’s Strike and the boss resists it. The reason you’d use this skill is because it decreases their hit and evasion for three turns, so there is a higher chance the boss will miss and lose extra actions because of it. If you have the Commander Archetype, then you might have access to Marakukaja, which can help with the damage, too, should your characters get hit. The battle will probably play out slowly, but you should be more than fine if you keep it up.
Upon defeating the Orgas, you will receive the Ebony Horn, the item you came here for the Superior Scrimshaw quest. Additionally, you will also be able to complete the Deeds and Diversions quest, thanks to completing this dungeon. Before you leave this dungeon, though, go to the floor above the one with the boss for one final item, then you can leave.
