After finally finding the true culprit in the kidnapping cases in Martira, your next stop on the trip in the Tournament for the Throne is Port Brilehaven. This place is located far to the south of Martira, so it will take a number of days to reach it with your gauntlet runner. When you first arrive, it’s best to worry about the story bits before you fully explore, as you won’t find much to do outside of the usual.
Your arrival will be at Seabreeze Street and the area to the north will be the Merchants’ Bazaar. You can only explore the first two areas on foot, so you’ll have to take a boat to reach the others, which is what the objective marker is pointing to, at first. When presented with the choices, pick everywhere, but Angler’s Inn Square, as that is your destination. Doing this will put all the other areas in your fast travel list later, so you won’t need to use the boats anymore.
Once there, go to each of the markers and speak to the NPC out front to learn that you can’t be staying at any of those inns. The only other choice left is the Spider’s Den, which is in the south. Speak to the eugief outside, then head inside the inn. A number of scenes will play out here, then you’ll be back in your room. You won’t be able to go anywhere, so just go to bed. More scenes will play and then it will be time for the Exhibition of the Brave. When you’ve regain control, it will be the next day and you’re told to head to the Nightprowler.
Go to any of the boats and ask them to take you to Nightprowler. Watch the scene in there, then when you have control, have the ferryman bring you to Warship Harbour. Despite the game showing you the portal to More here, this is nothing more than a stretch of cutscenes. You learn of the next deadline here, which is going to be August 13th, with Louis’ little soiree. The party will eventually go back to the runner and plan out what they need to do. Rest up once you’re back at Spider’s Den, then when it comes to the 23rd, you will finally have free time.
Brilehaven: Gold Beetles¶
You will find a total of five Gold Beetles hidden in the town, with the first one being in the Seabreeze Street area. There is a set of alleys behind the eugief merchant, so go there and follow them to the north. At the dead end, on the left side, will be the Gold Beetle. For the second one, stay in Seabreeze Street and make your way to the boat icon on the western side. While near the docks here, go to the corner all the way to the right for the second Gold Beetle.
The third one will have you teleporting to the Merchants’ Bazaar area. Locate the item shop near the southern end, then check out the little corner right outside of it for the third Gold Beetle. The fourth one will be to the north, still in the Merchants’ Bazaar area. The Recruitment Center is here, so step onto the grounds, but don’t enter it. Instead, check southwest corner of the little outside area enclosed by the center to find the Gold Beetle. The fifth one is located in the Arenafront Wharf section of the town. Check the northeastern corner of the area to find the Gold Beetle along the wall there.
Brilehaven: Side Quests and Bounties¶
There are a total of six side quests you can pick up here in Brilehaven. All but one of them will require you to travel to different areas, though, but it’s a good idea to get them all now. Note that the new lone bounty you can get here goes hand-in-hand with The Chalice vs. The Brew quest. Also, Deeds and Diversions will require you to go to the location unlocked for Superior Scrimshaw.
Quest | Location | Reward |
---|---|---|
Efflorescent Youth | Seabreeze Street | 4,000 Reeves, Tolerance |
Dental Distress | Seabreeze Street | 15,000 Reeves, Gold Beetle |
Superior Scrimshaw | Merchants’ Bazaar | 25,000 Reeves, Courage |
Solder’s Solace | Angler’s Inn Square | 30,000 Reeves, Dragonblood Sap |
Deeds and Diversions | Nightprowler | 10,000 Reeves, Chef’s Toque |

Brilehaven: Royal Virtues¶
You will find that there are a number of activities you can do in Brilehaven that affect your Royal Virtues. This is the first place where you can actually have debates with other candidates, where you just need to choose the correct answer. Other than that, the rest of the activites are pretty much similar to the other towns.
Activity | Location | Royal Virtue | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Ferry Tour | Seabreeze Street | Wisdom | Pay 1,500 Reeves |
Debate (Jun) | Merchants’ Bazaar | Eloquence, Imagination | Choose second answer |
Debate (Glodell) | Merchants’ Bazaar | Eloquence, Imagination | Choose third answer |
Brilehaven Podium | Merchants’ Bazaar | Eloquence | – |
Diving Competition | Merchants’ Bazaar | Courage | – |
Watchtower | Angler’s Inn Square | Wisdom | Sunny weather |
Earnest Youth | Angler’s Inn Square | Tolerance | Donate 250 Reeves first; Day only |
Sanctor’s Story | Angler’s Inn Square | Imagination | – |
Listen to Pagan | Angler’s Inn Square | Tolerance | Night only |
As you can see, Port Brilehaven has a lot of different things to do, so you will be busy for a while. The side quests alone will take up some time, as you will be visiting many other places. The time limit isn’t so bad here, though, since you do get a good 20 or so days of free time before you are forced to do the story.
Missable Book for Reading¶
While you’re in Brilehaven, there is one thing you should grab before you finish with the area. Anytime it’s not raining outside and during the day time only, head to the Angler’s Inn Square area of the town. On the western side of this area is a fountain and standing near it should be a male ishkia (the one with wings). His name is Julian, so speak to him and answer his question with whatever you want. After that, he will ask if you’re literate, then give you a book, titled The Magical Future. Once you are finished with the Brilehaven storyline, Julian will no longer be there.
Nidia Shopkeeper¶
In the Merchants’ Bazaar area, there is a Nidia Shopkeeper at the southern end, who will sell you a different accessory on each day of the week. Some of these accessories are nothing special, but there is one in particular that is pretty nice. You’re not restricted to just one, either, as you can buy as many as you want. The accessories that he sells, including the days on which he sells them, are as follows:
Day | Accessory | Description |
---|---|---|
Metalsday | Knight’s Bracelet (5,000) | Endurance +6 |
Idlesday | Rider’s Anklet (9,000) | Agility +9 |
Flamesday | Stormy Sea Ring (15,000) | Always deal critical hits during storms |
Watersday | Archetypal Ring (40,000) | Increases Archetype EXP gained |
Arboursday | Rejuvenation Bell (20,000) | Medium HP recovery every turn in battle. |
The one item you definitely want from this list is the Archetypal Ring, as it increases the amount of AEXP you receive. The other items are either just stats or situational. You should already have a Rejuvenation Bell and it’s not really all too good.
