Metaphor: ReFantazio

Homo Jaluzo Boss Guide

By
Jarrod Garripoli

You’ve finally found the true culprit in the kidnappings in Martira, which lead to you having to go through Kriegante Castle. While inside the dungeon, you caught glimpses of a large, shadowy figure that seemed to be controlled by the culprit. Once you finally reach the end of the dungeon, the entire truth is revealed and you will be forced into a boss battle against Homo Jaluzo.

This abomination will be fought at the end of Kriegante Castle.

All of Homo Jaluzo’s Attacks

Jaluzo is a pretty straightforward battle at the beginning, then starts going some new moves once the eyes become targetable.

  • Eager Bite: A physical attack that will hit a single character.

  • Deafening Din: The boss will hit the entire party for some medium damage, while also debuffing everyone’s defense.

  • Jumping Playtime: Jaluzo will typically gather some power before doing this move. It will hit everyone in the party for some big damage, so it might be a good idea to guard when you see it gathering power.

  • Stare: This attack starts being used once the eyes become targets. It doesn’t deal any damage, but it can inflict Daze on a character.

  • Tackle: Single target attack that is physical in nature.

(1 of 4) Eager Bite is a physical attack on a single character for decent damage.

  • Focused Aim: Not really sure what this does, as it says the boss is “observing the whole battlefield”.

  • Mother’s Love: This occurs when the boss is low on health. It is a one-time heal that replenishes about 2,400 health to the main boss, and regenerates both eyes back to full.

Homo Jaluzo Boss Strategy

First and foremost, this boss doesn’t have any weaknesses, nor does it resist/block/reflect anything, so you are free to use any attacks. When the first starts, you can only target the main body, but as the fight continues, the two eyes will be able to be attacked. The eyes are weak to Pierce, so that’s your chance to get some extra actions each turn. You will see the boss do Focused Aim during the course of the battle, but it’s not exactly clear what this does. It’s possible Focused Aim allows the boss to focus its attacks on a single character, as long as the eyes are still there.

This is especially true if you destroy both eyes, as there is a clip that an attack “can come from any angle.” Outside of that, though, the boss has two main physical attacks that it uses to hit single characters, which are Eager Bite and Tackle. They both do around the same damage, but there are two other attacks that can hit the entire party. Deafening Din might be the most problematic, as it also reduces any characters’ defenses, should it connect. Jumping Playtime only seems to occur when the boss has both eyes and after it uses an action to charge.

You also have to be mindful of the Stare skill, as it can inflict Daze on the character. This status ailment will drastically decrease the hit rate of the character afflicted by it. Try to cure this ailment as soon as possible, since you want all of your characters contributing to the damage. Taking out the eyes seems to stop this move from happening, though, so if it’s becoming too annoying, do just that. At some point, once the boss is low on health, it will get heal with Mother’s Love.

(1 of 7) The boss will occasionally “observe the whole battlefield.”

This is a big heal on the main body of the boss (2,400 HP, to be exact), as well as the two eyes. Of course, the boss can also regenerate its two eyes, restoring them back to full health. Outside of the heal, though, everything else will be the same, so just keep doing what you’re doing to finally bring down this large human.

For winning the battle, you will receive Jaluzo’s Baby Clothes, an item you can sell at any shop. You will also finally complete the main quest here in Martira and will be asked what to do with the bounty money. Feel free to give it all to the bereaved families, then you will receive your Courage increase portion of the reward for said bounty. You will also get Rank 3 in Gallica’s Bond, which will not only unlock the Wizard Archetype, but also give more detailed info when doing Squad Battles (allows you to see most enemies’ skills).

Depending on how long it took you to clear this matter, you might still have free time before you’re set to leave for Port Brilehaven, the next destination on your journey!
