Metaphor: ReFantazio

A Guiding Gift

By
Jarrod Garripoli

There are numerous side quests in Metaphor: ReFantazio, a number of which will require you to go into dungeons. A Guiding Gift can be gotten from Virga Island, whenever you happen to get free time there. The old lady asks you to help find some "Polar Stone" iconPolar Stones to help with her son’s fishing trip, as they are used to help navigate the seas. The only problem is that she dropped them inside the Dragon Temple, so you offer to track them down for her.

A Guiding Gift Location

After you arrive on Virga Island and do the story stuff there, which will require you to eventually obtain a "Potion of Blight" iconPotion of Blight, you will be able to fully explore the village and pick up some side quests. Right outside of the inn, you should find an older mustari by the well. Speak to her and she asks for your help in acquiring some Polar Stones, which are used in the village to help navigate the surrounding seas. Specifically, she will be giving them to her grandchild for her first fishing trip, but she seems to have lost them while trying to offer them up to the Dragon God.

Polar Stone Locations

Note that you only need a single Polar Stone to complete the quest, but finding all three will net you some extra rewards, which are actually pretty good. Thankfully, you don’t have to go too deep into the Dragon Temple to find the stones, as they are all located in the first two areas. Note that in order to enter the Dragon Temple, you will have to defeat the Treebeast Alento first.

First Polar Stone Location

After defeating the Treebeast Alento, go into the temple and you’ll be in the first area, which is fairly open. Both the left and right paths here converge onto one another on the far side, but for the purposes of this guide, go right. Defeat the enemies here, then head to the right as far as you go to find an item in the corner. If you see it listed as ???, then that will be the Polar Stone.

Second Polar Stone Location

For the second stone, you’ll need to enter the Labyrinthine Path area of the Dragon Temple. This is the second section and the most annoying part, but you don’t need to traverse the maze here for the stone. As soon as you enter this area, head west until you see an item sitting on the railing. Approach it and you’ll see it’s the Polar Stone.

(1 of 4) The first stone is in the first area, on the eastern side.

Third Polar Stone Location

Unlike the first two, you’ll need to do a little more to reach third stone, which is also in the Labyrinthine Path (check the link for detailed info) area. From the map, this place doesn’t look like a maze, but only certain stairs will allow you to proceed. Basically, if you see the screen turning black, then you’re going the wrong way. Using this basic knowledge, you need to get to the central part of the section, where you will see the objective marker/stairs leading to another room. Ignore those and check the western side, next to the normal gargoyles. There will be some pots here and the stone will be among them.

Once you have all three stones and are back in the village, return them to the old lady to finish up the quest.

A Guiding Gift Rewards

For completing the quest with the bare minimum, which is only one Polar Stone, you will receive some "Passionate Wraps" iconPassionate Wraps. Additionally, you will also get 22,500 Reeves for your troubles. Should you happen to bring back all three stones, then the old lady will also toss in a "Sumptuous Magla Feast" iconSumptuous Magla Feast and a "Divine Elixir" iconDivine Elixir.
