Metaphor: ReFantazio

Kokasados Boss Guide

By
Jarrod Garripoli

The Kokasados is the boss you will face at the end of the Gracia Forest dungeon, which you go to during the Soldier’s Solace side quest, in Metaphor: ReFantazio. The goal of the quest is to go to the forest and obtain some Dragonthistle Berries to help heal some wounded soldiers. Of course, once you grab the seventh and final Berry, the Kokasados will appear to attack.

Kokasados will appear once you collect all of the Berries.

All of Kokasados’ Attacks

  • Poison Breath: This attack won’t do any damage, but the boss will attempt to poison every character in your party. Poison is hardly a big deal for your characters, though, so it can be largely ignored.

  • Gacyclo: Kokasados will use the tier 2 wind magic on your entire party. This can be bad, depending on your resistances.

  • Cyclone: Heavy wind damage attack against a single character. Hopefully that character isn’t weak to wind.

  • Powerful Pulveriser: A heavy physical attack (Strike) that hits a single character.

(1 of 2) The boss will use a few wind attacks, like Gacyclo, which hits your entire party.

  • Thunderstrike Thrust: Deals medium physical Electric damage to one character. Lowers their Defence for 3 turns.

  • Peck of Death: Kokasados will target a character that doesn’t have Rakukaja active, then use this move against them to instantly KO that character.

Kokasados Boss Strategy

The Kokasados is a boss you want to quickly defeat, as it can do a move later on in the battle that instantly KOs a character. For the most part, though, this is a fairly straightforward battle. The Kokasados has access to Poison Breath, to try and poison your entire party, but the ailment doesn’t really do too much to your characters. The big attacks are the Gacyclo and Cyclone, so you want to make sure that none of your characters are weak to wind, since you don’t need the boss to gain more actions.

Having Rakukaja will help a lot in this battle, not just because the boss can debuff your defense with Thunderstrike Thrust, but because of Peck of Death. At some point during the battle, it will target a character that doesn’t have Rajukaja active, then use this maneuver to instantly KO them. There’s nothing you can do to protect yourself from the instant death, but thankfull the game isn’t over if your protagonist perishes in this. As for what to use, the creature is weak to Pierce, so having a Gunner and/or Knight will work out very well.

(1 of 4) It’s always a good idea to steal from bosses, with this one yielding some Serum Gloves.

You can steal Serum Gloves from this boss, so try to do that before you defeat it. As long as you can avoid the one-hit kill move, this boss is fairly simple, although you still have to contend with Gacyclo hitting everyone. Keep your health up enough with Medi, or you can use the Fairy Dust item equivalents. Once the boss is defeated, you will be finished with Gracia Forest.
