A number of side quests in Metaphor: ReFantazio will have you visiting optional dungeons for one reason or another. Peak Curiosity will have you traveling to the Spire of Blind Faith, a dungeon found to the south of Virga Island. Unfortunately, it can take upwards of four days to reach it, due to how the currents are in the area. This page will go over where to start this quest, as well as how to get to the Spire of Blind Faith and conquer the tower.
Peak Curiosity Location¶
You will find this side quest on Virga Island, but you won’t see it available as soon as you land there. You will first have to visit Dragon Temple to see that you cannot get inside, which will trigger a small story quest to get the Potion of Blight. Once you complete this portion, the side quests on Virga Island will begin to appear. This particular one is located at the Inn Well section of the island, which is right outside the inn, of course.
Speak to the Dejected Man, who mentions that his sister is gone from this world. He says that she had a fascination with monsters and went out on her own plenty of times to study them. She would usually come back unscathed, but she didn’t come back from her recent trip to the Spire of Blind Faith. He wishes you to go there and defeat the Leogron that lords over the tower there. However, he won’t pinpoint the location of the tower, as you’ll need to ask the informant for the specifics, which will reveal the location on your world map.
Peak Curiosity Walkthrough¶
The Spire of Blind Faith is an optional dungeon that is located to the south of Virga Island. The bad thing about this place is that the weather will always be bad when you visit it, so enemies will be stronger and you won’t get any benefits to Turn Icons when getting critical hits or exploiting weaknesses (you still get the damage bonus). It is probably best to do the main story dungeon for Virga Island, which consists of the Dragon Temple and another dungeon, first. This will allow you to get a nice boost in levels, too, since there are some enemies in the dungeon that are level 46+ and the boss is level 55.
It will also benefit you because the weather NPC on Virga Island also has a special trick, which is to erase the bad weather on a single location for up to three days. Your first time is free, but using it again will cost you either a specific dish or some ingredients. Note that if you use this NPC to clear the weather, you will have to go straight to the dungeon and not make a stop at the Orbwise Path, since that will eat up a day. The dungeon is also a gimmick one, as you need to have your characters in the back row, or the enemies will be more powerful and get more turns during battles. So, you will need to use characters that are more proficient in the back row, like magic users and something like a Gunner.
To complete the quest, you’ll have to climb to the top of the tower, or the floor right before the top, and defeat the Leogron there. It’s not a particularly difficult battle, other than the boss debuffing your attack with its wind attacks. After defeating the boss, you’ll receive the Monster’s Notebook, which you can give to the NPC at the beginning of the dungeon. Once you do that, you’re done here, so return to the questgiver to finish the quest.
Peak Curiosity Rewards¶
One of the rewards for completing this quest will be x3 Hero’s Jewelled Roots, which are items you can use to give a character 3,000 Archetype experience. Additionally, you’ll also receive 60,000 Reeves and get a boost to your Courage Royal Virtue.
