There are some locked doors in the Mausoleum section of the Grand Cathedral dungeon in Metaphor: ReFantazio, when you go through it the first time. Once you progress the story, you will eventually unlock some quests that ask you to go through the Mausoleum. Upon reaching the end of the dungeon, you will have to face the Kadablich, the boss of the place.
All of Kadablich’s Attacks¶
-
Curse Chant: The boss will attempt to inflict Hex on your entire party. This ailment makes you more susceptible to Dark, as well as inflicts half of the damage you deal to an enemy on yourself.
-
Mamudo: Weak magic Dark attack on all characters.
-
Mudoon: Medium magic Dark attack on a single character.
-
Life Steal: Drains a moderate amount of health from a single character.
Kadablich Boss Strategy¶
The Kadablich will be accompanied by three skeletons at the beginning of the battle, all of which are level 19 and have the same strengths/weaknesses. Don’t use Lightning on them, but instead concentrate on both Strike and Light. In fact, Light is one of the best elements to use in this fight, as the Kadablich is also weak to it. While you may use Strike against the skeletons, you don’t want to use any physical attacks on the Kadablich, as it will repel them all. Not only will this damage your characters, but it will also end your turn.
The first thing you want to do is get rid of the skeletons, who should be a pushover, as they aren’t that strong. Once they have been ground to dust, the boss will only get a single action per turn, unless someone is weak to Dark (don’t bring someone weak to Dark). The biggest problem with the Kadablich is Curse Chant, as it will use it often enough to try and inflict Hex on your characters. This makes you take more damage from Dark attacks, which the Kadablich has two of, plus any time you attack, half of the damage you deal will be reflected back at you.
So, there’s no winning at all with Hex and it should be healed immediately. Outside of that, though, the Dark attacks shouldn’t be doing too much damage on their own. Likewise, Life Steal can be annoying, since it will heal the boss while damaging you at the same time, but Kadablich doesn’t seem to use it all too often to make it matter. You can use any element, but Light will net you extra Turn Icons, and physical attacks won’t do anything at all.
