Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance

Dark Knight

By
Jarrod Garripoli
Portrait Description
Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance Screenshot Knights clad in dark clothes who control the darkness. The crystal in their chest absorbs life energy and gives them power. Their potential is equal to Overlords. At one point, they sought to conquer the Three Worlds, so many want to have them for subordinates.

To unlock the Dark Knight, you will need a Rank 2 Wrestler, a Rank 2 Lady Samurai, and a Rank 2 Ninja. The Dark Knight is supposed to be the ultimate melee class in the game, which is evident by its high all-around stats and aptitudes, except for SP, INT and RES. At max rank, it will be good in all of the melee weapons, so you have a few weapons in which to choose. Considering his highest aptitudes are ATK and DEF, that leaves the spear as the best option, due to those increasing both of those stats. The Dark Knight is pretty straightforward, and has some nice common Evilities you will probably want to spread to other characters.

Evilities

The Dark Knight’s unique Evility, Ripple Impact, will deal damage to enemies adjacent to the target you chose. This is some free damage to other enemies, if they happen to be in the right position. Veteran Hero increases your HP, ATK and DEF aptitudes by 20%, so it’s some free stats for four slots, which can be a bit expensive by the time you unlock and have access to the Evility. Purgatory increases the damage dealt by criticals by 50%. This is a great Evility for just about anyone, since it’s a damage increase from criticals and not upping the critical rate.

In the Fight will decrease the damage taken from adjacent units by 50%. This is a great Evility for any tank, since a 50% damage reduction, even if it’s only adjacent units, is nice. Heavy Stance will increase a unit’s stats by 30%, but at the expense that the unit cannot be lifted at all. This can be a great Evility to include in the final setup for a lot of units, but remember that 100% extra stats is the limit. Fighting Spirit increases your attack and defense by 5% each time you’re attacking or being attacked. For five slots, this seems ok, and it would seem more suited for a tanking character.
