Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance

Horseman

By
Jarrod Garripoli
Portrait Description
Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance Screenshot Only the best knights can ride Bone Dragons. They are skilled in the art of swords, and can demolish anything with one swing. They are feared by other monster races. They are chivalrous in combat, which is rare for demons. They get along well with Samurais.

The Horseman class can be unlocked upon reaching Episode 15, when you get a quest called Promised Spear in the Quest Shop. This requires you to hand in a legendary spear, which might be a bit elusive, depending on your luck. The one-time reward in Episode 3, Toxic Depot, is a legendary spear, if you need to get one. The Horseman is one of the better monster units, as they can get straight up in enemies’ faces, dealing damage and taking hits from them. Their ATK and HIT aptitudes are high, plus their DEF aptitude is amazing. Couple the latter with their fantastic unique Evility and they can hang in there to provide a frontline for your units. If there is any glaring problem, it’s their big wind weakness.

Evilities

The Horseman’s unique Evility, Immortal Body, decreases physical attack damage taken by 50%. This is one of the best defensive Evilities in the game and if you run one of these units, you might think of adding the Sludge’s Gel Body to their loadout. Death Fang increases the damage dealt to paralyzed units by 100%. Considering that one of the Horseman’s unique skills can inflict paralysis, this can be nice to have, but it’s not a top priority. Blood Insanity increases the damage dealt by 30%, to enemies that have under 50% HP. Depending on whether you one-shot enemies or not, you could add this to some units, but it’s kind of situational.

Turbo Boost multiplies movement by two for the next turn, provided the unit doesn’t move on the previous turn. This can be nice to get out of trouble, but you have to “waste” a turn by not moving. Shield Dash decreases the damage taken by the number of panels moved x1% (up to a maximum of 30%). This is just straight up damage reduction, so having this on a tank unit can be good. Just make sure you load up movement on a unit with this Evility. Combat High increases the attack of the unit with it, by the number of enemies defeated by both allies and the unit themselves (x10%). If you know you are facing a lot of enemies, this can be a fantastic Evility to toss on some attackers.
