Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance

Imp

By
Jarrod Garripoli
Portrait Description
Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance Screenshot Demon pranksters who have small horns, big wings, and a loincloth. They are blamed for all graffiti and knick-knacks that go missing. Radishes drive them crazy. Even Thieves acknowledge their stealing skills. Last year, ding-dong-ditch was popular amongst their community.

The Imp can be unlocked once you reach Episode 2, when a quest called Pranking Footsteps appears in the Quest Shop. To complete this quest, you can hand in any item at all. The Imp doesn’t excel at anything, but could kind of be considered a jack-of-all-trades monster class. RES is really the only stat aptitude in which they’re lacking, with the others being average to good all around. That means you could go either ATK or INT with their weapon choice, since the unique skills will adapt to whichever one you choose. They also have an amazing unique Evility, which gives you bonus damage to any enemy that’s equal or lower level than you, plus they have that magical 3x3 skill. If there’s one thing to nitpick about the Imp, it’s that they have a negative star resistance, which can be bad in some situations.

Evilities

Bullying is the Imp’s unique Evility and it is a great one, as it increases damage dealt to lower/equal level enemies by 30% (it only says lower in-game). Once you reach the max level of 9999, this is a free extra 30% damage to everything you encounter. Poison Heal reverses the damage dealt by poison, so instead of losing 20% HP each turn, you will instead recover from it. If you can manage to get this before you start the Episode 3 maps (the Strategy Assembly opens up then, so you can do Subclasses), then those battles would become so much easier for you. Binding Dash doubles your movement and SPD whenever the unit gets paralyzed. This does happen from time to time, but it’s easier to boost those through other means.

Elemental Reverse will reverse all of your elemental resistances, so something like -25% fire resistance would become 25%. However, most of the units in this game have one or two resistances in the positive, so those would become negatives. Weaken Life will reverse the effect of the Weaken ailment, meaning instead of losing 30% stats, the unit with this Evility will gain 30% stats with the ailment on them. This can be great during the main story or in the early postgame, but once you get the other stat-increasing Evilities, it doesn’t really matter. Isolation increases the unit’s stats by 20% whenever they are not adjacent to any other units. Again, this can be decent in some circumstances, but it’s situational and you’ll never always be away from others.
