Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance

Nine-Tails

By
Jarrod Garripoli
Portrait Description
Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance Screenshot A race of classy demons who speak and dress traditionally, and have nine tails. They can interact with Yin and Yang, controlling their enemy’s luck and energy flow. Most people believe they can also read fortunes. They mask their powers, so their true potential is unknown.

The Nine-Tails class is unlockable once you reach Episode 7, when a quest titled Colla-tail-ral appears in the Quest Shop. To complete it, you need to hand in any Treasure piece of equipment, like a Testament, as an example. The Nine-Tails is basically the best caster amongst your monster units, as they have amazing INT aptitude and can learn up to Omega Star without needing to get it from another source. They also have good RES, so you could toss some heals on them to make them more versatile. Even better is that the Nine-Tails learns a variety skills related to the Item World, so they become even more valuable as you dive into those. They do have an inherent weakness to ice, though, as well as lower HP than usual.

Evilities

The Nine-Tails’ unique Evility, Good Fortune, increases their stats by the Bonus Gauge level x5%. Basically, as you fight and fill the Bonus Gauge, their stats will increase 5% each level. If you can effectively increase the Bonus Gauge in each map, then this is a pretty nice boost to stats, not mentioning that you can always have it at level 3 via the one Dark Assembly bill. Punishment increases the damage dealt to enemies with the Weaken ailment by 100%. None of their skills cause Weaken, which is a nice ailment, but the slots are better occupied by something more useful.

Fluffy Barrier makes you take 50% less damage when attacked from behind. This is a pretty great Evility, especially if you’re trying to build up a tank, since you could potentially turn your back to the enemies to try and get that damage reduction. Geo Damage makes it so Geo damage deals it equal to 15% of a target’s HP. With a large chain that spans multiple colors, this could potentially deplete a lot of HP from enemies. Of course, this is more adaptable to the Item World, but that’s a bit situational there. Starlight increases star element damage by 10%, which is great for those built around doing star damage. Geo Protect basically makes it so Geo Effects and Geo Chains won’t damage your allies, which is nice to have in the Item World.
