Ostara Festival: The May Queen¶
To begin this quest, speak with Mayda at the festival grounds in the south of Ravensthorpe. She’ll tell you that she has been chosen as the May Queen of the festival, but she isn’t interested. The worst part is that everyone is insisting that she wear a flower crown. As a warrior, she would prefer a crown made from a beast, and she’s heard talk of an animal that is killing much of the wildlife in the forest. Eivor offers to help by finding and killing the beast.
Where to Find and Hunt The Beast¶
The beast you’re looking for is located in the words northwest of Ravensthorpe. More specifically, the beast can be found in the woods just northeast of Venonis, as shown on the map below. Once you reach the woods, use Odin’s Sight to highlight any nearby evidence which can be examined to determine the location of the beast. In particular, you’ll want to search in the northwesternmost part of the forest. Here, on the edge of the forest, you’ll find the corpse of a bear.
Once you’ve examined the bear, use Odin’s Sight again to highlight another clue on a rock to the west. This clue comes in the form of a blood trail, which you can follow northwest until you find a farmer standing on top of a rock. Speak with the farmer to learn more about the beast. As it turns out, the beast is a particularly ferocious chicken! A chicken capable of killing a bear. Unfortunately, the first taste of blood from the bear sent the chicken into a crazed bloodlust. It must be stopped.
When you’ve spoken to the farmer, he’ll point to the beast nearby. All you need to do is jump down from the rock and fight it. Although it was able to bring down a bear, the fight won’t be a tough one. Any weapon that you use will inflict massive damage on the beast, and although it can take a lot more hits than your average chicken, it won’t be too long until the beast meets its end. When the chicken is dead, speak with the farmer on the rock to craft the crown, then return to Mayda at the festival grounds in Ravensthorpe to complete the quest. You’ll be rewarded with 140 Festival Tokens.
