How to Get the Gold Medal

Trial of the Raven Objectives

To earn the gold medal for the Trial of the Raven at Templebrough Fort, you need to earn the following points for each objective, which amount to the perfect score of 1,000 points combined.

Objective Mastery Points
Assassinations 495
Poison kills 370
Remain anonymous 100
Steal the treasure 35

Take a moment to familiarise yourself with the special ability and gear bonuses for the trial.

Prioritise Poison Kills

There’s no set in stone way to complete this challenge, but the reason why you should consider prioritising poison kills at the beginning of the trial is that you only need to kill five enemies with poison. You’ll find this much easier in the first area of the fort since the enemies are spaced further apart, allowing you to shoot an area between them in order to attract the attention of other guards.

The enemies beyond the inner walls of the fort are much easier to kill with assassinations than those outside the walls, so if you kill these enemies outside the walls with poison, you won’t have to worry too much about triggering the attention of too many inside the fort with poison clouds. With that said, you’ll still need to kill a few outside with assassinations, including the first kill, which should be the guard on top of the wall to your left as you spawn into the trial.

Once you’ve killed this first guard with an assassination, you should have at least two adrenaline bars filled, allowing you to shoot twice with Poisonous Powder Trap, which is the only special ability available to you during the trial. Now that you’re on top of the wall, you can shoot the trap between different groups of enemies beneath you. Try shooting just once at first, preferably in front of the two guards facing towards the fort walls to your left. This should attract the attention of two other guards, one patrolling beneath the wall and one patrolling on top of it, killing all three as they investigate the trap. If the guard on the wall doesn’t investigate the trap, you can assassinate them separately later.

After you’ve killed the four guards to your left with poison, you can shoot another trap between the two enemies beneath you to the right. They should each investigate the trap, poisoning them in the process, but you’ll need to assassinate one once the first has died from the poison to ensure that you don’t kill too many guards with poison. However, if you didn’t attract the attention of the guard on the wall earlier, you can safely kill both with poison here.

(1 of 3) You’ll need to assassinate the first guard on the wall to gain an adrenaline bar.

How to Assassinate the Remaining Guards

However you proceed with these poison kills, once you’ve killed all five you should move slowly toward the fort. After killing the guard on the wooden platform (whether by poison or assassination depending on how you killed the first few guards), you can climb the wall and assassinate the other guard beneath him. From here, make your way back to the wall where you began the trial and then use the bushes near the fort walls to stay hidden. This is important because if you leave yourself exposed here, you will most likely be seen as the guards move between their positions. You can assassinate the two remaining guards outside the walls from the bushes, then look to the entrance of the fort.

At the entrance to the fort, you’ll see a guard patrolling the archway. Rather than sneak inside, stay behind the wall and whistle at the guard. This will cause them to investigate the noise, bringing them outside the fort walls. You can then assassinate the guard away from the sight of others, either from the bushes or from behind the wall. It’s important that you kill this guard first before you enter the inner walls of the fort, since you’ll need to run through to the second tier of walls after. To do this, climb the walls to the left of the arched entrance to the fort, then wait for the guard at the top of the wall in the distance to move away. This is your chance to run to the area beneath this wall, then climb up to perform a ledge assassination on the guard.

After killing the guard on top of the wall, climb up and wait behind the wall directly in front of you. You’ll notice a guard patrolling towards you soon enough, and you’ll need to assassinate them as they reach the area where you performed the ledge assassination. After this, go down the route where the guard that you just killed was patrolling and look up to your right. You’ll see another guard on top of the steps here, with a key icon above their head. You’ll need this key to open the chest.

Once you’ve killed the guard with the key on the steps, climb the wall and perform an air assassination on the guard patrolling around the chest. Next, look to the left of the chest and use Odin’s Sight to highlight a guard on the steps. You can perform another air assassination here to take him out, then climb back up the wall to where the chest located, and from here go back to where you performed the initial ledge assassination in this area. From the ledge, turn right and climb the roof of the building. You can perform another air assassination on the guard patrolling between the two buildings here.

There should now be only two guards remaining, one on the platform beneath the other side of the house, and one patrolling near the steps beyond that. You should be able to assassinate the guard on the platform without the guard near the steps seeing you, but take your time to be as careful as possible. You can then go down the steps and assassinate the final guard as they walk toward the bushes on the other side of the steps.

(1 of 13) Wait for the guard on the tower platform to approach the ladder before you jump up to assassinate them.

Steal the Treasure From the Chest

Now that all the guards are dead, the only thing left to do is to loot the chest. If you completed both objectives of assassinations and poison kills while remaining anonymous, looting the chest should bring you to the maximum mastery points of 1,000, earning you the gold medal upon completion of the challenge.
