This mystery can be found at Taedden’s Shelf, near central Eurvicscire.
Where to Find Clues to Aldwyn’s Heart¶
When you arrive at the mystery site you’ll hear a woman named Bertha begging for her love interest to come out and listen to her. You’ll need to speak with Bertha to see what all the fuss is about, and you’ll soon learn that Aldwyn, her love interest, isn’t much interested in her. To complete the mystery, you’ll need to inspect a number of clues in the vicinity to learn a bit more about Aldwyn. These include the following:
- Barrels of ale to the left of the house entrance
- A note detailing a journal entry from Aldwyn, to the right of the entrance
- Bags of fine malted barley and hops under a wooden canopy to the northwest
Eivor or Bertha Composed the Ale Song?¶
Once you’ve inspected each of the above clues, you can return to Bertha and suggest that she praise Aldwyn’s wonderful ale, in an effort to win his heart. A brief song will then follow, at the end of which Aldwyn will emerge from his house. At this point you can choose to tell him that you composed the song, or that Bertha did. Choosing the former will cause Aldwyn to invite you inside, and the latter will result in Bertha being invited. If you want the greatest reward in the form of petty trinkets, you should tell Aldwyn that Bertha composed the song. Bertha will then give you a brooch, but you’ll still have the opportunity to loot the house for minor treasure as well.
