This quest begins once you have pledged to Sciropecire from the Alliance Map in your longhouse at Ravensthorpe. You should begin by travelling to the town of Quatford, northwest of Ravensthorpe. When you reach Quatford, head for the longhouse.
Find Ivarr and Ceolbert at the Longhouse¶
When you enter the longhouse, approach Ivarr and Ceolbert to initiate a cutscene. You’ll have a few dialogue options here, but you can choose whatever you want. When the cutscene ends you’ll need to travel to a nearby church. Mount one of the horses outside the longhouse and follow Ivarr and Ceolbert. When you reach the door, interact with it to begin another cutscene. You’ll have a few more dialogue options here, but none have any specific impact on the story.
What to do with the Silver¶
At the end of the scene you’ll be given 650 silver. Eivor will need to decide who to give this to, based on their potential for securing peace. In truth, it doesn’t matter who you give the silver to, as Ivarr will interrupt with the proceedings in the same way after you do. However, it’s worth speaking with everyone to hear their position, if only for the purpose of role playing. You can speak with the following people in the church:
- King Rhodri
- Ynr Ap Cadfarch
- Angharad
- Ivarr
- Gwriad Ap Merfyn
Once you’ve decided who to give the silver to, return to Bishop Deorlaf and inform him. Alternatively, you can speak to him immediately and lie, stating that you’ve given the silver to someone while keeping it for yourself. We recommend doing this, as the silver will go to waste otherwise.
Whatever you choose to do with the silver, once Ivarr has made his scene you’ll have a fight on your hands. This involves fighting a number of King Rhodri’s soldiers, including two Yeomen. Once they’re dead a cutscene will begin, after which you’ll need to help Ivarr through the front door of the church.
Clear Quatford of Briton Soldiers¶
Outside you’ll find more soldiers fighting; do your part to help your allies and clear out the Briton soldiers. Most of the Briton soldiers outside are regular, but you’ll also have to contend with two Skirmishers. You should be familiar with these by now, but it’s still worth being cautious so you’re not caught off guard by their swift strikes.
Once you’ve defeated the Briton soldiers outside the church, you’ll need to head to the river to the west, where even more are approaching. You’ll find a lot of enemies here, some of which wield two-handed spears, swords, and axes which provide them with a reach advantage. Switch to a weapon with a long range of its own if you can, or bring the fight to them by getting as close to their bodies as possible to negate the reach. Alternatively, you can just pick them off from afar with your bow.
When all the Briton soldiers are dead, return to Bishop Deorlaf at the church and respond to the dialogue in whatever way you see fit. It won’t have any significant impact on the story. At the end of the cutscene the quest will complete.
"We recommend doing this, as the silver will go to waste otherwise." There is an exception to this. If you give the money to Gwriad, you can reclaim it after Ivarr.... disrupts the peace.
