Assassin's Creed: Valhalla

Firing the Arrow

By

This quest begins immediately after Walls and Shadows. Now that you’ve identified The Arrow as a potential suspect, it’s time to work with Stowe to track him down.

You’ll find Stowe waiting for you in the West Market of Lunden, just south of Saint Paul’s Cathedral. Approach him to begin a brief cutscene, during which Stowe will ask what your first impression of Erke was. Respond as you will, it won’t influence the story in any significant way at this point.

After the conversation with Stowe, you’ll be tasked with trying to find one of the coins that he mentioned. There will be guards patrolling the market area here, so you’ll need to keep your cloak on to remain unseen. Be sure to use any blend in elements in the area such as benches, crowds of people, and activities if you see a guard approaching. You’ll also find a few drunks on the floor in the marketplace, who can be lured to distract the guards.

(1 of 2) You’ll find Stowe on the outskirts of the West Market.

You’ll find Stowe on the outskirts of the West Market. (left), Approaching Stowe will begin the quest, so be sure that you have everything you need before you do. (right)

To ensure that you don’t attract the attention of the guards unnecessarily, try to maintain a walking pace and don’t make any sudden movements. If you want to do this without causing a scene, you’ll need to head to the western part of the market and speak with a Norse Man. Use Odin’s Sight to highlight his location behind a wall. You’ll find him drinking in front of two guards, who are distracted as they’re sat down during their own session. You can speak with the man and try to convince him that you’re an ally, but no answer that you provide will work. Instead, you’ll need to steal the coin from him by pickpocketing. This is surprisingly easy to do, even in view of the drunken guards; just walk behind him and then crouch, at which point you’ll see the option to steal pop up.

If you prefer a more aggressive approach, you can cause a scene by attacking one of two men in the marketplace. Technically these two can also be pickpocketed, but there more guards on alert surrounding them. Both will be highlighted as objective markers when you use Odin’s Sight. One you’ll find in the centre of the marketplace to the west of where you spoke with Stowe. The other you’ll find to the south near the walls. Both of these will become hostile as soon as you attack, along with the rest of the guards, so you’ll need to take them out quickly and avoid harming any civilians in the process. Remember: if you kill too many civilians, you will desynchronize.

Whichever way you choose, once you have the coin you’ll need to use it to complete the archery challenge at the Londinium Amphitheatre. You can go on foot, or if you’ve synchronized with the point there, just open your map and fast travel. Once there, speak with the Norse Warrior in the centre of the amphitheatre. She’ll be sceptical of your eligibility to join the competition at first, but after Eivor presents the coin, she’ll ask if you want to engage in a practice round first. We recommend you do this to get an idea of what you’re up against if you’re not too confident with your archery skills. Otherwise, tell her you’re ready to begin.

(1 of 6) Be sure to blend in with your surroundings when a guard gets too close.

To complete the contest successfully, you’ll need to shoot 9 targets within 30 seconds. Each of the targets will be marked with a teal icon. The lower targets will be easy to shoot, but you’ll need to aim slightly higher for the ones further above you. Once you’ve completed the contest, make your way west to the Imperial Arch, where you’ll find Hussa. The quickest way to get there is by climbing directly over the amphitheatre.

When you speak with Hussa, a brief cutscene will begin, after which you’ll find yourself positioned behind The Arrow. All that remains to do be done now is assassinate him. If you have the Advanced Assassination skill, this can be done in one hit if you get the timing right. Otherwise, you’ll need to fight him and his guards to finish him off. Despite being a member of the Order of Ancients, he isn’t tough to beat and will behave like most regular enemies.

Once The Arrow (now revealed to be Avgos Spearhand) is dead, a cutscene will play in which you take his Order medallion, as with all other members of the Order of Ancients. After finishing off his warriors, you’ll find Stowe outside Saint Paul’s Cathedral, southwest of the amphitheatre. Speak with him to complete the quest.

(1 of 3) Speak with Hussa west of the amphitheatre to meet The Arrow.
