This page details where to find and how to complete the Stealing from Thieves mystery in Melunois, Francia.
How to Complete Stealing from Thieves¶
You’ll find this mystery in the northwestern part of Melunois, at the bandit camp of Medanta. When you arrive at the camp you’ll find that the objective of the mystery isn’t obvious, but if you use Odin’s Sight you’ll notice that a small wooden crate is highlighted on a table. You won’t be able to access the crate without fighting some of the bandits first, and you’ll need to defeat the Goliath elite in the camp to take the Medanta Chest Key from him for the wealth chest nearby.
Once you’ve defeated all the bandits in the camp, interact with the crate to pick it up and read a note associated with it, detailing that the crate once belonged to a smuggler in Paris. The mystery will then complete, but you’ll find that the note has begun a new quest named A Package for Paris. We’ll detail how to complete the quest on this page for your convenience.
A Package for Paris: Where to Find the Smuggler¶
Once you have the crate, which happens to contain medicine for some sick children in Paris, you can take it to the smuggler at the docks on the northern side of Paris. The exact location of the smuggler is shown in the screenshot below. You’ll need to be careful when you reach the docks, since there are numerous guards patrolling the area. If you alert one group, you’ll have a lot more on your hands very quickly.
As you make your way through the docks, use Odin’s Sight to highlight the smuggler. When you speak with him, you’ll have three dialogue options before you hand over the crate of medicine:
- “Take your wares, but I want extra payment.”
- “Take your wares, and I expect to be paid.”
- “Take it at no cost.”
You’re free to choose whatever you want here, but we highly recommend choosing the first option if you have at least level 2 in Charisma. This will yield a payment of 1000 silver. It may not be the most moral option if you’re roleplaying that kind of thing, but you won’t be seeing this smuggler again…
