This quest begins immediately after Into the Fog. With the plot to poison Flann’s army exposed, it’s time to return to the king at Cashelore to plan the conquest of Ulster.
Barid is Right, Barid is Wrong, or Don’t Ask Me?¶
When you meet with King Flann and Barid, a cutscene will play out during which Flann expresses his desire to attack Ulster as soon as possible. He intends to set up a military camp at Clogher, to launch the assault on Aileach from there. Ciara enters and presents a peace letter with terms from Ulster. Flann doesn’t like it, but Barid suggests that it’s worth a try. At this point Flann asks Eivor for their opinion. providing the following dialogue options:
“Barid is right.”¶
Eivor states that Barid gives wise council, and that if the peace talks fail, they will be met with steel. King Flann suggests that he doesn’t have much time to spare while he has an army to keep fit and fed.
“Barid is wrong.”¶
Eivor states that there’s no shame in weakening the enemy from within, and that diplomacy can’t achieve what a single blade can. Barid isn’t too happy that you didn’t support him, and King Flann doesn’t want the stain of dishonour on his reign.
“Don’t ask me.”¶
Eivor states that it isn’t their decision to make, and Flann seems neutral to this response, willing to allow Eivor’s fate to drift like a leaf on a river.
Complete Royal Demands in Ulster and Earn Favor with its Kings¶
