Area Zero is where the Victory Road, Starfall Street and Path of Legends storylines converge for one big payoff, but what TMs can be found there? We’ve got all the information trainers will need to take on this mysterious area without any plot elements to ruin it.
Area Zero - All TMs Complete List¶
Here’s a full list of all TMs available to find throughout Area Zero. Due to this portion of the game not having a map, we’ve organized them by which Research Station they are near:
TM | Where To Find It | Map Marker |
---|---|---|
Flare Blitz | Found next to a tree inside Area Zero on the path down to Research Station One. | Map Link |
Thunder Wave | Head to the tree in front of you from Research Station No.1 then turn right. It can be found next to the cliff face behind a boulder. | |
Dragon Claw | From Research Base No.1 head down the right-hand side of the circular path, going under the rock bridge and through the rock pillars holding it in place. Make an immediate right to find the TM next to the rock face. | Map Link |
Flame Charge | Continue heading down the grass hill then take a right past the right-hand-side waterfall. Keep going down the hill and stay on the right hand-side. Follow the narrow cliff face path and the TM will be at the end. | Map Link |

Steel Beam | In the secret cave near Research Base 3. Found on top of the rocks just past the waterfall. | Map Link |

No. 2: At the very bottom, near Zero Lab and after completing the story, follow the little path into a tiny cave and use Koraidon/Miraidon to jump on the crystal pillar inside to find the TM. (Koraidon / Miraidon needed) | Map Link 1 / Map Link 2 |

Area Zero TM Breakdown¶
Struggling to locate some of the above Area Zero TMs? Don’t worry, they can be a bit tricky to find. We’ve taken the liberty of taking an in-game screenshot where specific TMs are located to help trainers get to where they need to be. Instructions of where to find them are also included:
Before Research Station No.1¶
Flare Blitz¶
Found next to a tree inside Area Zero on the path down to Research Station One. It’s more or less as soon as trainers enter Area Zero from the gate next to the rock wall on the left. Pokémon here don’t seem to approach much so feel free to take some time and explore a little.
Before Research Station No.2¶
Thunder Wave¶
Head to the tree in front of you from Research Station No.1 then turn right. It’s the same tree trainers look at as they exit the Research Station No. 1 cutscene. Thunder Wave can be found next to the rock face behind a small gathering of boulders once players get to the drop of the hill after the tree.
Dragon Claw¶
From Research Base No.1 head down the right-hand side of the long circular path with a steap incline. This is also a good shortcut to use to get to the lower levels of Area Zero whilst exploring. If trainers look up they’ll see a naturally formed rock ceiling that also serves as a bridge for the upper level. Conveniently, Paldea has also provided naturally formed rock pillars to support it all, could this be the work of a legendary Pokémon? Go between the most-right Pillars and take an immediate right to find Dragon Claw wedged in a gap between rock faces.
Flame Charge¶
If trainers carry on going around the swirling hill and down the steep grassy incline, they will notice a Waterfall on the right-hand side. At this point stick to the right and carry on heading down the incline. Trainers will then notice the path bend off into a narrow cliff edge where Pokémon such as Corviknight like to perch alongside Jumpluffs follow the narrow cliff face path and the TM Flame Charge will be at the end. The best way to describe this area is a pseudo “secret area”, and there’s plenty of them in Area Zero.
Before Research Station No.3¶
Nasty Plot¶
Getting Nasty Plot will require trainers to come back to Research Station No.2 after the main story has been completed. Koraidon or Miraidon will be needed to climb up the cliff face behind Research Station No.2, so keep that in mind. Once trainers grapple up the cliff face, they’ll need to jump up a much smaller ledge and look over to the left. Nasty Plot can be found on a small grass ledge where its probably being surrounded by Jumpluffs.
Aerial Ace¶
Starting at Research Station No.2, head down the hill towards the waterfall and stream, the TM is directly under the waterfall. Players just need to walk up the smaller rock behind it to then clip onto the rock with Aerial Ace on it. This one is really that simple, and no ride Pokémon is needed to grab it, nice and simple.
Steel Beam¶
From Research Station No.3, trainers need to hug the left-hand side rock face and travel past the large cave entrance. After going under the rock bridge above players will come across some small boulders with a gap that leads to a secret cave. They then need to follow the path around until reaching an open cave with a waterfall inside. The TM Steel Beam is on the left-hand side of this cavern, but not on the floor. Carry on around the waterfall and climb the rocks on the left-hand side straight to the top to find the TM Steel beam.
Before Research Station No.4¶
Psychic Terrain¶
In a similar route to finding Steel Beam, From Research Station No.3, trainers need to hug the left-hand side rock face and travel past the large cave entrance. After going under the rock bridge above players will come across some small boulders with a gap that leads to a secret cave. They then need to follow the path around until reaching an open cave with a waterfall inside. TM Psychic Terrain can be found on the floor to the left, trainers literally can’t miss it and probably already have it following the above instructions.
Blizzard¶
Instead of going down into the cave after Research Station No.3, go left and follow the path round once again. This time however we won’t be going into the secret cave. The TM Blizzard is quite easy to spot this time thanks to Koraidon or Miraidon. It can be found on a ledge on the left-hand side of the rock face.
Near Base Zero¶
All of the following TMs will need Koraidon or Miraidon to reach, which means the following TMs won’t be available until completing the final “A Way Home” Storyline. Here’s what trainers need to know:
Tera Blast x 2¶
Head down the path from Research Station No.4 and jump down the left-hand side, this caan be done with or without a ride Pokémon out. Rotom phones actually break players falls in a baffling display of non-physics. Once on the ground, hug the cave wall until finding a smaller cave opening. The TM Tera Blast can be found on top of the crystal in the enter of the room, but trainers will need their ride Pokémon to get on top to get it.
The second Tera Blast TM can be found near Zero Lab by following a narrow path into a small cave. Once again Koraidon and Miraidon will be needed due to players having to jump on top of a Crystal the retrieve the TM.
Trick Room¶
Starting at Research Station 4, head down the rock bridge and stop before it turns down towards Zero Lab. From here, get out Koraidon or Miraidon and fly towards the metal research building without any crystals growing on it just ahead. Make sure to land on top of it to find the TM Trick Room on the roof.
Flash Cannon¶
Head down to the Zero Lab entrance where the grumpy version of Koraidon or Miraidon is waiting for trainers now the dust has settled. Facing the Zero Lab door, head right to find a small group of Crystal formations to jump on. Head up the Crystal pillar to find the TM Flash Cannon sitting pretty.
Power Gem¶
Once again trainers need to start at Research Station No.4, but we won’t be moving away from the broken facility this time. Instead, head to the top of Research Station No.4 then scale the tallest Crystal pillar coming out of the top. Trainers will be able to find the TM Power Gem here.
Shadow Ball¶
This is one of the easier TMs to find around Research Station No. 4 and Zero Lab. From Research Station NO.4, keep following the path down and keep an eye on the left-hand side rock wall. The TM Shadow Ball will be sat next to said wall whilst on the downward slope.
