This is a guide for defeating Team Star’s Fairy Crew in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. We go into detail about where exactly you can find their base, the best way to reach the base and when you should take on the task of fighting Team Star’s Fairy Crew and their leader, Ortega.
Where is the Fairy Crew Located?¶
Team Star’s Fairy Crew is located at the northernmost area of Paldea, within North Province (Area Three).
Best Way to Reach the Fairy Crew¶
The quickest, most direct way to reach the Fairy Crew is by cutting through Glaseado Mountain, in northern Paldea.
If you already completed the Ghost Gym, you can simply travel north-west from Montenevera, towards the North Province (Area Three) Pokémon Center. The journey is downhill, so should be very easy.
However, if you haven’t done the Ghost gym yet, start from Medali (where the Normal Gym is) and follow the road leading north-east. At one point, you’ll need to cross the river, but there should be a bridge. If there’s no bridge, use the Jump ability from the Steel Titan to leap across.
If that doesn’t work, try heading east from Medali instead, then go north where the signpost is, before entering Dalizapa Passage. Follow the mountain trail around until you reach the snowy part of Glaseado Mountain. Then climb up from there, towards Montenevera, perhaps.
By the way, if you obtained the Climb ability, from defeating the Dragon Titan, you can climb across Glaseado Mountain with minimal hassle. However, the Dragon Titan is higher Level than the Fairy Crew, so you may prefer to wait after beating the Fairy Crew instead.
Furthermore, if you have the Surf ability from the Flying Titan (can be obtained fairly early on), you can swim around the outer edge of Paldea, towards the northern shore. For example, by starting at Porto Marinada and traveling clock-wise. This will take a long time, but there won’t be much blocking your path.
When to Fight the Fairy Crew?¶
We recommend fighting the Fairy Crew when your Pokémon are above Level 50. Also, since your opponents mainly use Fairy type Pokémon, you’ll want multiple Pokémon that can handle them in your team.
Recommended Pokémon for the Fairy Crew¶
In general, Poison and Steel types should be your go-to Pokémon here.
Here are some suggestions:
- Revavroom, which is Poison and Steel . You can find some in North Province (Area One). There’s also a Level 55 Tera somewhat nearby.
- Grafaiai, a Poison and Normal . There’s a Level 48 Tera at Tagtree Thicket.
- Tinkaton, evolved from Tinkatuff, which can you find at the nearby ruins. This is a Fairy and Steel type with a great signature move: Gigaton Hammer.
- Toxtricity, an Electric and Poison type found around Alfornada.
- Copperajah, a pure Steel type that you can catch at the nearby highlands.
Attacking the Fairy Crew’s Base¶
Like usual, approach the barricade to trigger a cutscene. If you decide to fight, your opponent will be a visiting instructor.
Pokémon Trainer Harrington¶
Despite being a dual type, Morgrem is weak to Poison and Steel , so you should be sorted.
Hattrem isn’t a Fairy, so be wary. Batter it with a Dark , Bug or Ghost type.
Star Barrage¶
You probably know the drill by now, but just in case…
In a Star Barrage, you must defeat opposing Pokémon by auto-battling with . Simply press the button to throw your Pokémon; it will then attack whatever is in front. You can send out up to three Pokémon simultaneously.
If your Pokémon take damage, you can speak to Clive to heal your Pokémon. If any get knocked out and you’ve ran out of Revives, look for a vending machine. Finally, if it’s not looking good, you can press to give up.
You’ll lose the Star Barrage if all of your Pokémon are KO’d or you run out of time before defeating the required amount of Pokémon. On this occasion, you have 10 minutes to defeat 30 Pokémon.
Team Star Grunts should send out their Pokémon when you’re relatively close. After beating up those Pokémon, keep moving, in search of other grunts. There should be more than enough Pokémon and more than enough time. We managed to clear within 2 minutes.
Here are the Pokémon we encountered:
Image | Pokémon | Type |
---|---|---|
Kirlia | Psychic Fairy | |
Gardevoir | Psychic Fairy | |
Impidimp | Dark Fairy | |
Morgrem | Dark Fairy | |
Grimmsnarl | Dark Fairy | |
Tinkatink | Fairy Steel | |
Tinkatuff | Fairy Steel | |
Jigglypuff | Normal Fairy | |
Wigglytuff | Normal Fairy | |
Fidough | Fairy | |
Daschbun | Fairy | |
Mimikyu | Ghost Fairy | |
Florges | Fairy |
Versus Kirlia and Gardevoir, Ghost is also great.
For the Impidimp line, stick with the common counters: Poison or Steel .
Against Tinkatink and Tinkatuff, Steel is OK, but avoid Poison. Use Fire or Ground if you have them.
Jiggly, Wiggly and the bread dogs are weak to the common counters.
If facing Mimikyu, Poison is OK. Besides Steel , Ghost is also strong.
Finally, Florges is another pure Fairy, so blast it with the common counters.
After making a right ruckus, the leader of the Fairy Crew will show their face.
