You’ll want to defeat Trainers which are a slightly higher level than you, as this will reward you with more EXP. Additionally, if you defeat the required amount of Trainers in an area, then you can speak with the Pokemon League Representatives for a variety of useful rewards, such as TMs and Battle Items.

Levelling Up Using Tera Raid Battles¶
Tera Raid Battles is a good way of boosting your Pokemons Level in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, as they will reward you with Exp. Candy. There are different types of Tera Raid Battles which range from 1 Star to 7 Star. The Star will change the level of Pokemon you’ll face inside and will also provide you with better rewards. For example in the lower star raids you’ll only get Exp. Candy S, but in the higher star raids you’ll get Exp. Candy L which will provide your Pokemon with a lot of EXP.
You can use the Exp. Candy on a Pokemon of your choosing, so you can freely take in your most powerful Pokemon into the raid to ensure you can complete it, as you dont directly get EXP from the Raid itself. If you’re struggling to complete this Tera Raids solo, then you play with other Online Players via the Poke Portal. Unlocking the higher level Tera Raids will require doing certain things which can be found via this page: How do you Unlock 5 and 6 Star Tera Raids
Levelling Up Using Mass Outbreaks¶
Mass Outbreaks are a pretty common event that occur across the Paldea region. Multiple outbreaks can happen at once, and to find one, open up your map and look either for a black ? with a shiny background or a Pokémon with a shiny background (see pictures below).
During Mass Outbreaks, you’ll find a ton of one type of Pokémon in a small area. You’ll be able to farm around 100-120 of the Mass Outbreak Pokémon before the outbreak ends. This allows you to be able to grind out a ton of XP quickly. You can do this either by battling with them or by using the Let’s Go! feature.
