With each new generation of Pokémon, there are lots and lots of new Pokémon creatures added to the mix–and it’s no different for Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.

Starter Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet¶
Sprigatito¶
Sprigatito the Grass Cat Pokémon is one of the three starter Pokémon that you can choose at the start of the game. It is a Grass-type with the classic Overgrow ability, boosting its Grass-type attacks when its HP falls below a third.
Fuecoco¶
Fuecoco the Fire Croc Pokémon is one of the three starter Pokémon that you can choose at the start of the game. It’s a Fire-type with the Blaze ability, common for Fire-type starters, which boosts its Fire-type attacks in a pinch.
Quaxly¶
Quaxly the Duckling Pokémon completes the trinity of the three starters available at the start of the game. It’s a Water-type with the Torrent ability, enhancing its Water-type attacks when it has low HP.
Legendary Ride Pokémon¶
Koraidon - Scarlet Exclusive¶
Koraidon is a Legendary Pokémon that appears in Pokémon Scarlet, featuring on the game’s cover art. You will receive a Koraidon to accompany you during your travels.
Koraidon has multiple forms to suit different traversal needs: Sprinting Build for moving fast on land, Swimming Build for going across water and Gliding Build for gliding through the air.
Miraidon - Violet Exclusive¶
Miraidon is a Legendary Pokémon that appears in Pokémon Violet, featuring on the game’s cover art. You will receive a Miraidon to accompany you during your travels.
Miraidon has multiple forms to suit different traversal needs: Drive Mode for moving fast on land, Aquatic Mode for going across water and Glide Mode for gliding through the air.
New Pokémon in Scarlet & Violet¶
Armarouge¶
Armarouge the Fire Warrior Pokémon is exclusive to Pokémon Scarlet. It’s a Fire and Psychic type with the Flash Fire ability, which boosts its Fire type attacks when hit by one. It has a new move called Armor Cannon that deals heavy Fire-type Special damage, but lowers Armarouge’s Def and Sp. Def stats.
Bellibolt¶
Bellibolt the EleFrog Pokémon is a new Electric-type found in Paldea. It has a new ability called Electromorphosis, which causes it to be charged when hit by an attack, boosting the next Electric-type attack it uses.
Ceruledge¶
Ceruledge the Fire Blades Pokémon is exclusive to Pokémon Violet. It’s a Fire and Ghost type with the Flash Fire ability, which boosts its Fire type attacks when hit by one. It has a new move called Bitter Blades, a Fire-type physical attack that restores Ceruledge’s HP by half the damage dealt to the foe.
Cetitan¶
Cetitan the Terra Whale Pokémon is a new Ice-type found in Paldea. It can have the Thick Fat (weakens the foe’s Fire and Ice-type attacks) or Slush Rush (boosts Speed during a hailstorm) abilities.
Cyclizar¶
Cyclizar the Mount Pokémon is a new Dragon and Normal type. It has the Shed Skin ability, which may cure its own status conditions at the end of the turn. It has a new move called Shed Tail, which creatures a substitute with its own HP, before switching places with another Pokémon.
Farigiraf¶
Farigiraf the Long Neck Pokémon is a Normal and Psychic type and the evolved form of Girafarig. It has two new abilities. Cud Chew lets Farigiraf eat a berry a second time at the end of the turn, if it ate a berry. Armor Tail prevents opponents from using priority moves (eg. Quick Attack).
Fidough¶
Fidough the Puppy Pokémon is a new Fairy-type found in Paldea. It has the Own Tempo ability, which prevents it from being confused or intimidated.
Gimmighoul¶
Gimmighoul the Coin Chest Pokémon is a new Ghost-type discovered in Paldea. It has the Rattled ability, which boosts its Speed stat when intimidated or struck by a Bug, Dark or Ghost attack. Besides its Chest Form, which resembles a treasure chest, Gimmighoul has a Roaming Form where it carries a single coin on its back.
Grafaiai¶
Grafaiai the Toxic Monkey Pokémon is a new Poison and Normal type found in Paldea. It can have the Unburden (doubles its Speed after its held item is used up) or Poison Touch (may inflict poison on foe when using a move that makes contact) abilities.
Greavard¶
Greavard the Ghost Dog Pokémon is a new Ghost-type found in Paldea. It has the Pickup ability, which lets it obtain any held item consumed by other Pokémon in battle (temporarily if the other Pokémon belongs to a trainer). Also, there’s a chance it may obtain random items after a fight.
Klawf¶
Klawf the Ambush Pokémon is a new Rock-type found in Paldea. It has a new Ability called Anger Shell that boosts its Attack, Sp. Atk and Speed stats, but lowers its defensive stats after falling below half HP.
Lechonk¶
Lechonk the Hog Pokémon is a new Normal-type found in Paldea. It can have the Aroma Veil (prevents attacks that restrict its move choices) or Gluttony (eats a berry at half HP instead of quarter HP) abilities.
Paldean Wooper¶
Paldean Wooper is a new form of Wooper that’s Poison and Ground type. It can have the Poison Point (may inflict poison on foe if they use a move that makes contact) or Water Absorb (restores HP when hit by a Water-type attack) abilities.
Pawmi¶
Pawmi the Mouse Pokémon is a new Electric-type native to Paldea. It can have the Static (may inflict paralysis on foe if they use a move that makes contact) or Natural Cure (heals status conditions when switched out) abilities.
Smoliv¶
Smoliv the Olive Pokémon is a new Grass and Normal type found in Paldea. It has the Early Bird ability, which lets it wake up faster when asleep.
Wiglett¶
Wiglett the Garden Eel Pokémon is a new Water-type found in Paldea. It resembles Diglett, a Ground-type, but is a completely separate Pokémon. It can have the Gooey (lowers foe’s Speed if they use a move that makes contact) or Rattled (boosts Speed when hit by Bug, Dark or Ghost-type attack) abilities.
Unidentified Pokémon¶
Great Tusk (Scarlet)¶
Great Tusk is the prehistoric version of Donphan, only available in Pokemon Scarlet. It is one of the Titans on the legend’s paths and is a Ground/Fighting type Pokemon. It is only available in Pokemon Scarlet, and it can only be obtained after you reach the post-game and you go to Area 0.
Iron Treads (Violet)¶
Iron Treads is the futuristic version of Donphan, only available in Pokemon Violet. It is a Ground/Steel-type Pokemon that is part of the Path of Legends. To add this Pokemon to your team, you will need to beat the game and arrive at Area 0.
