Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

How to Get the Master Ball in Scarlet & Violet

By
Vincent Lau

This is a guide for obtaining the "Master Ball" iconMaster Ball in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.

What is the Master Ball?

For those new to Pokémon, the Master Ball is the ultimate Poké Ball, with a 100% chance of catching any wild Pokémon. Typically, there is only one Master Ball in the game and you get it very late.

Master Ball Location

(1 of 2) After your adventures at Area Zero are over, visit Clavell.

You can obtain the Master Ball in Scarlet & Violet after completing the Area Zero story (when the credits roll), as soon as the postgame begins.

The next day, you’ll be promoted to visit the Director’s Office in Naranja/Uva Academy. You can skip this and leave the academy. However, if you visit the Director’s Office (by using any of the turnstiles at the Entrance Hall), you’ll witness the aftermath of the story and receive a Master Ball as a reward!

Best Use for the Master Ball

It depends on your play style, but the Master Ball is best used for:

  • Extremely hard-to-catch Pokémon. So perhaps one of the Treasures of Ruin or the other Koraidon or Miraidon at Area Zero.
  • Emergencies. Such as a chance shiny Pokémon that you didn’t prepare for. It could be that they know Self-Destruct or Explosion and you don’t have a "Golduck" IconGolduck with Damp to stop it.

Or if you’re like us, it’ll probably just stay in your bag forever!
