This page explains everything you may wish to know about catching the Gimmighoul Chest in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. These are hidden throughout Paldea and are required for completing the Pokédex.
Gimmighoul is a new Pokémon to the Pokédex and is a Ghost Type.
Best Places to Catch Gimmighoul Chest¶
By now, you’ve probably encountered a lot of Gimmighouls in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet and may be wondering how you go about adding them to your Pokédex. Well, the bad news is, you can’t catch the Roaming form of Gimmighoul just yet. You can, however, catch the Chest form of Gimmighoul!
What makes this tougher is that you need to seek out the Gimmighoul Chests that are hidden throughout the world. The easiest way of doing it is by seeking out the Watchtowers that are scattered around Paldea as most of them are guaranteed to have a Gimmighoul Chest at the top. The Watchtowers in South Province (Area Two) and (Area Three) are good choices early in the game, as the battle against the Gimmighoul Chest will only be Level 10.
How to Evolve into Gholdengo¶
Now that you have your Gimmighoul, you may wish to know how you go about evolving it into Goldengo. The bad news is, this is not a quick procedure and will involve scouring all of Paldea.
Collect 999+ Gimmighoul Coins¶
To evolve into Gholdengo, you’ll need to first go out into the world and accumulate 999+ Gimmighoul Coins! These are obtained from the Roaming Gimmighouls and Gimmighoul Chests found throughout the region.
Form | Coins Obtained |
---|---|
Roaming Gimmighoul | 1 - 4 |
Gimmighoul Chest | 50 - 60 |
As you can see, you’ll want to make a concentrated effort to seek out all of the Gimmighoul Chests as they will give you between 50-60 Gimmighoul Coins and make this step much much quicker. Unfortunately, as of right now, we’ve come across no way to respawn the Chests, but we’ll update you as soon as we discover more.
As mentioned above, the best place to find these Gimmighoul Chests are around the various Watchtowers but there are some that are hidden in the rest of the world too.
Alternatively, you can also add to your collection by interacting with the Roaming Gimmighoul that are much more numerous in Paldea. You’ll only get one-four Coins per each, but they add up quickly as you’ll come across plenty of them through general exploration. Typically, you’ll always find Roaming Gimmighouls in areas such as ruins (often multiple Roaming Gimmighouls at once) and on the top of signposts.
Level Up Gimmighoul¶
Once you’ve accrued 999+ Gimmighoul Coins, the final step is a simple one. You need to Level Up Gimmighoul to trigger an evolution, at which point your Gimmighoul will evolve into Gholdengo, congratulations!
