Best Armarouge Tera Raid Build

By
Seren Morgan-Roberts

This page offers a guide on how to build the best Armarouge Raid build in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet (SV). You’ll find information on the best movesets, held item, tera type and nature. You’ll also find strategies catered to beating "Cinderace" IconCinderace, the latest 7-Star Tera Raid opponent, using Armarouge!

Armarouge Cinderace Raid Build

An Armarouge Raid build is one of the best options for going against the 7-Star Black Crystal Cinderace Tera Raid from the 30th of December to the end of 1st of January 2023, and then again from midnight on the 13th of January to the end of 15th of January 2023.

This build is all about boosting Psychic moves and doing tons of damage to Cinderace, who will take x2 damage from Psychic type attacks.

How to Get An Armarouge Raid Build

Armarouge evolves from Charcadet, but it doesn’t evolve naturally by levelling up. It’s also exclusive to the Scarlet version of the game, meaning if you’ve got Violet, your Charcadet will evolve into Ceruledge. If you want to flesh out a Armarouge Raid build you’ll have to trade for it! Charcadet is a reasonably easy Pokémon to find, with one being located in the early game area South Province (Area Three)!

In order to evolve your Charcadet into Armarouge, you’ll need to give 10 "Bronzor Fragment" iconBronzor Fragments to the man with the pink shirt in Zapapico. In exchange for 10 "Bronzor" IconBronzor fragments, you’ll be given "Auspicious Armor" iconAuspicious Armor. You can use this armor to then evolve your Charcadet!

Bronzor Fragments can be obtained from Bronzors, which are very common around the southern region of the map - South Province (Area Three), South Province (Area Five), South Province (Area Two) etc.

Armarouge Tera Raid Build

Tera Nature EV Focus Ability Moveset Held Item
Psychic Modest HP and SPA Flash Fire "Expanding Force" iconExpanding Force, "Psychic Terrain" iconPsychic Terrain, "Reflect" iconReflect/"Calm Mind" iconCalm Mind, "Acid Spray" iconAcid Spray/Clear Smog "Twisted Spoon" iconTwisted Spoon

As you can see from the table above, our Armarouge Tera Raid build focuses on SPA Psychic moves and boosting their damage. The Modest nature increases SPA damage and if you don’t already have a Modest Armarouge, you can change its nature using a "Modest Mint" iconModest Mint.

Additionally, you’ll also want to make sure your Armarouge Raid build is a Psychic Psychic tera type - Armarouge is a Fire and Psychic type. Additionally, having your Armarouge hold a "Twisted Spoon" iconTwisted Spoon will boost the power of its Psychic type moves by 20%! A Twisted Spoon can be purchased at the "Delibird" IconDelibird Presents in Levincia!

Armarouge Tera Raid Moves And Strategy

Flash Fire is our Armarouge Raid build preferred ability and it makes it immune to Fire-type moves! This is a perfect defense against Cinderace’s Pyroball fire move! It also boosts Fire-type move damage by 50% but this tera raid build isn’t focused on doing fire damage!

"Psychic Terrain" iconPsychic Terrain and "Expanding Force" iconExpanding Force are a great combo of moves that’ll do tons of Psychic damage! First off, you’ll want to use "Psychic" iconPsychic Terrain to create a terrain that boosts the power of Psychic type moves by 50% for five turns. This move can be learned from TM138, which can be obtained from west of Zapapico or near Poco Path. Expanding Force is a Psychic type move which will not only get that 50% boost from Psychic terrain, but will also get an additional x1.5 power increase meaning it’ll inflict a whole load of damage to a single target - in this case, Cinderace. Armarouge learns this move at level 56.

"Reflect" iconReflect or "Calm Mind" iconCalm Mind are good options for giving your Armarouge Raid build a little bit of extra defense against Cinderace’s barrage of physical attacks. Reflect can be learned via TM074, found in Medali, and Calm Mind is learned naturally at level 37.

And finally, having either "Acid Spray" iconAcid Spray or Clear Smog (both poison type moves) can help with managing Cinderace’s stats. Acid Spray inflicts damage and simultaneously lowers the target’s Special Defense by two stages, meaning your Armarouge will do extra damage with its SPA focused build! Acid Spray is learned via TM013, which can be obtained from South Province (Area Two).

Alternatively, you can go for Clear Smog which resets the targets stats and does damage too - this is great for making sure Cinderace doesn’t increase his damage and defense too much when he uses "Bulk Up" iconBulk Up. Clear Smog is a move that Armarouge learns naturally at level 8.
