Recommended Pokémon for the Quaking Earth Titan (Violet)¶
Before learning how to beat Iron Treads, the Quaking Earth Titan, your Pokémon team should be at least Level 45. We did however have success at Level 30 by using Water type Pokemon. Iron Treads is a Paradox (future) Donphan that’s a Ground and Steel type.
Offensively, the best Pokémon to use are Water , Ground , Fighting , and Fire .
Defensively, Water and Fire are the best, when considering what moves Iron Treads can use. Avoid Rock , Ice , and Fairy unless they have a second typing to balance out the damage.
Two of the starter choices are useful in this battle, with Quaxly and Fuecoco both being a solid choice. Due to Iron Treads Fire Fang move, you will want to avoid using Sprigatito.
Other Pokémon you could consider:
- Gyarados (Water and Flying ), which you can evolve from Magikarp, commonly found in rivers everywhere.
- Azumarill (Water and Fairy ), evolved from Azurill, found around south Paldea. Or caught around north-west Paldea.
- Makuhita (), can be picked up right above the Asado Desert in the field outside of Porto Marinada.
- Crawlbrawler ( ), can be picked up on the beach shore near Porto Marinada and is easily one of the best choices for this fight.
- Finizen (water ), is also a useful pick in the battle that can be found swimming close to the beach near Porto Marinada.
Best Strategies for the Quaking Earth Titan (Violet)¶
Whilst finding out how to beat Irons Treads, the Quaking Earth Titan, you will have to fight it twice, although there’s a brief pause in-between the two fights, if you need to rest etc.
Pokémon | Level | Type |
---|---|---|
Iron Treads | 44 | Ground and Steel |
Iron Treads resembles a futuristic version of Donphan. Its Attack and Defense are high, but its special-based stats are poor.
When learning how to beat Iron Treads, the Quaking Earth Titan, you need to be careful of it’s powerful moveset. It can use Rapid Spin, which used to be a real weak Normal-type move. Now it does decent damage and boosts the user’s Speed, on top of its usual effects: dispelling moves like Leech Seed and Wrap.
Also, watch out for Iron Head, a steel-type move that has a chance to flinch your Pokemon. Fire Fang also has a chance to burn you so make sure to have some burn heal on hand just in case.
As mentioned above, Ground , and Fighting Pokémon are great for dealing damage. However, they can potentially get worn down by Iron Treads merciless onslaught.
Fire Pokemon and Water Pokemon are your best choice here. Arven will be using a Fire-type move against Iron Treads that does sizable damage and has a chance to burn him. You can either try to burn him yourself with fire-type moves, or hit Iron Treads hard with water and fighting moves.
Although learning how to beat Iron Treads, the Quaking Earth Titan can be intimidating, there are two things you can try:
One, Iron Treads only uses physical attacks and has no way to boost its Attack. As such, you can massively impair it by using moves that lower Attack, such as Growl. Better yet Baby-Doll Eyes, if Iron Treads is faster than your Pokémon (can happen if it spams Rapid Spin). You could also repeatedly switch in and out Pokémon with the Intimidate ability.
Keep in mind critical hits from Iron Treads will ignore Attack drops, but unless you’re unlucky, it shouldn’t happen too often. Keep in mind that Iron Treads is immune to poison.
Iron Treads is susceptible to burn. When burned, it will lose a large chunk of health each turn. You could then spam healing items or Protect (learned from TM) while Iron Treads succumbs to burn damage.
Round 2¶
After defeating Iron Treads, it will retreat. When you catch up with it, you’ll fight it again, but stronger. However, Arven will lend a hand with his own Pokémon:
Pokémon | Level | Type |
---|---|---|
Scovillain | 44 | Grass Fire |
As far as we can tell, Iron Treads fights exactly the same as before, but is slightly stronger. However, Arven’s Scovillain should make the fight go down faster with its super-effective Fire Fang.
