Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Los Platos - Towards Mesagoza

By
Vincent Lau

This is a guide for Los Platos and the road towards Mesagoza, near the beginning of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.

(1 of 2) Nemona will shout for you when you approach Los Platos.

When you approach the eastern Pokémon Center at Los Platos, Nemona will grab your attention.

Pokémon Centers are useful facilities found all across Paldea. There are three services available:

  • The nurse in the center runs the Pokémon Center. Speak to her to heal all your Pokémon for free!
  • The bloke next to her runs the Poké Mart. Speak to him to buy or sell items.
  • The machine next to her is the TM Machine. You can craft TMs with Pokémon materials.

Nemoma will also teach you about “Let’s Go!” Press Joy-Con-R on the field to make your Pokémon automatically travel forward. They will auto-battle wild Pokémon and collect items along their path. Auto-battles are decided by the Level and type match-ups of the two Pokémon.

Moving on, your next destination will be Mesagoza, which is located further north. The road there is very easy. Just follow either of the northward roads from Los Platos.

You can actually explore the whole of South Province (Area One) now. But fair warning: it’s quite a large area! However, you cannot proceed further east or west, due to the terrain. So eventually you’ll need to go to Mesagoza to continue your journey.

In front of Mesagoza’s gate, there’s a Pokémon Center where you should rest and restock if necessary. When you approach the gate, Nemona will come along and challenge you to another battle.

Pokémon Trainer Nemoma

(1 of 2) It wasn’t too long since your first battle with Nemona.

It wasn’t too long since your first battle with Nemona. (left), Nemona will Terastallize her Pawmi, boosting its Electric moves. (right)

Pokémon Level Type
Quaxly (if you picked Sprigatito) 8 Water Water
Sprigatito (if you picked Fuecoco) 8 Grass Grass
Fuecoco (if you picked Quaxly) 8 Fire Fire
Pawmi 9 Electric Electric (Tera Type: Electric)

Nemona will lead with her starter Pokémon, so you should lead with yours, assuming you’re training it. Like last time, choose the move that matches your Pokémon’s type (Leafage, Ember of Water Gun) to dish out super-effective attacks, inflicting double damage.

When Nemona sends out Pawmi, you may want to switch out if your starter took significant damage. Otherwise, keep them in, especially if they’re Sprigatito. But if you picked Quaxly, you should definitely switch out.

On the first turn, Nemona will use her "Tera Orb" iconTera Orb to Terastallize Pawmi. This will enhance its Electric type moves, which in this case is "Thunder" iconThunder Shock.

Only Ground type Pokémon are super-effective against the Electric type Pawmi. If you caught a Paldean "Wooper" IconWooper, we highly recommend using it. As it happens, Ground types are also immune to Electric moves. If you don’t have a Ground type, any decent Pokémon that’s not Water or Flying should suffice.

After the fight, Nemona will hand you 3 "Revive" iconRevives. You can use these to revive any KO’d Pokémon with 50% of their HP.

Right, next stop: Mesagoza!
