This is a guide for defeating Team Star’s Fighting Crew in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. We go into detail about where exactly you can find their base, the best way to reach the base and when you should take on the task of fighting Team Star’s Fighting Crew and their leader, Eri.
Where is the Fighting Crew Located?¶
Team Star’s Fighting Crew is located at the north-east corner of Paldea, near North Province (Area 2).
Best Way to Reach the Fighting Crew¶
The Fighting Crew’s base is kind of far away from most points of interest.
If you obtained the Climb ability, from the Dragon Titan, you don’t really need a guide at this point. Simply open the in-game map, navigate here, set it as your destination, then dash and climb your way there.
Otherwise, if you don’t have Climb, it’s a bit tricker.
If you’ve beaten the Ice Gym or at least visited, you should begin your journey from there. Simply head east, down the mountain. When the snowy part ends, there’s a watchtower you can stop by at. After that, keep going east, downhill, towards the Pokémon Center at North Province (Area One).
Next, go around from the south, to reach North Province (Area Two) where the bamboo trees are. From there, travel north-west towards the next Pokémon Center. The Fighting Crew’s base is located a short distance east.
If you haven’t visited the Ice Gym, make your way there first!
When to Fight the Fighting Crew?¶
We recommend fighting the Fairy Crew when your Pokémon are above Level 55. Also, since your opponents favor Fighting type Pokémon, you’ll want multiple Pokémon that can handle them in your team.
Recommended Pokémon for the Fighting Crew¶
Generally speaking, Flying , Psychic and Fairy Pokémon are the best medicine to deal with Fighting-types. Ghost are also good because they’re immune to Fighting moves.
Here are some suggestions:
- Mimikyu is a sneaky and type. You can catch a Tera one at a pond in North Province (Area Two).
- Sylveon is the Fairy evolution of Eevee. There’s a Tera one east of the Fairy Crew’s base.
- Azumarill is a Water and Fairy type. You can encounter a Tera one at Casseroya Lake, north of where the Dragon Titan was.
- Gyarados is a fearsome and Flying type. There’s a Tera One at Casseroya Lake as well, south-west from the Dragon Titan fight.
- Veluza is a Water and Psychic type found throughout Casseroya Lake.
- Espathra is a Psychic type found around North Province (Area One).
Attacking the Fighting Crew’s Base¶
Like usual, approach the barricade to trigger a cutscene. If you decide to fight, your opponent will be a friend of the leader.
Carmen of the Team Star¶
Don’t lead with a Fairy; instead, go with a Flying or Psychic type. Ground also works.
Against Primeape, all three counters work: Flying , Psychic and Fairy .
When you regain control, ring the door bell when you’re ready to properly begin the raid.
Star Barrage¶
Most likely you know all about Star Barrages, but just in case…
In a Star Barrage, you must defeat opposing Pokémon by auto-battling with . Simply press the button to throw your Pokémon; it will then attack whatever is in front. You can send out up to three Pokémon simultaneously.
If your Pokémon take damage, you can speak to Clive to heal your Pokémon. If any get knocked out and you’ve ran out of Revives, look for a vending machine. Finally, if it’s not looking good, you can press to give up.
You’ll lose the Star Barrage if all of your Pokémon are KO’d or you run out of time before defeating the required amount of Pokémon. On this occasion, you have 10 minutes to defeat 30 Pokémon.
Team Star Grunts should send out their Pokémon when you’re relatively close. After beating up those Pokémon, keep moving, in search of other grunts. There should be more than enough Pokémon and more than enough time. We managed to clear within 2 minutes.
Here are the Pokémon we encountered:
Image | Pokémon | Type |
---|---|---|
Gallade | Psychic Fighting | |
Crabominable | Fighting Ice | |
Hawlucha | Fighting Flying | |
Toxicroak | Poison Fighting | |
Medicham | Fighting Psychic | |
Flamigo | Flying Fighting | |
Passimian | Fighting | |
Mankey | Fighting | |
Primeape | Fighting | |
Breloom | Grass Fighting | |
Hariyama | Fighting | |
Falinks | Fighting |
Against Gallade or Medicham, Psychic is OK. Flying and Fairy are still great. Ghost also deserves a shout out.
Versus Crabominable, the three counters remain the superior choice: , Psychic and Fairy . However, Flying should be somewhat careful.
If there’s a Hawlucha or Flamigo blocking your way, the three counters still work. But you also have the extra option of Electric .
For Toxicroak, Fairy is merely OK. Smash it with Flying , Psychic or Ground .
Meanwhile, if you stumble upon a Breloom, you can rely on the same three counters or shake things up with some Fire .
Anything else on the list, they’re pure Fighting-types so stick with the good old three: , Psychic and Fairy
After taking out the trash, the leader of the Fighting Crew will show their face again.
