This page lists all the Meal Powers in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet and their effects.
What are Meal Powers?¶
Meal Powers are bonus effects you can obtain from eating sandwiches during picnics or foods at restaurants etc. These effects can help you obtain certain Pokémon or rewards more easily.
How Long do Meal Powers Last For?¶
Meal Powers only work for a certain duration: 30 minutes.
This should be more than enough time to achieve everything you want though. However, in the case of Sparkling Power, it can be hard to stock up on and you might not encounter a Shiny Pokémon within 30 minutes.
What you can do is disable Auto-Save, save the game and use the Meal Power. Then if, after 30 minutes are up and you didn’t get what you want, reset the game.
Can You Stack Meal Powers?¶
Yes and no. With one food source, you can stack up to 3 Meal Powers. However, if you eat another food source, its Meal Powers will overwrite the previous ones.
List of Meal Powers¶
Egg Power¶
Effect: Increased chance of finding Pokémon Eggs from the picnic basket.
This is super useful when breeding Pokémon, especially if you’re breeding lots of Pokémon, for shiny-hunting purposes etc.
Unlike other Powers, Egg Power is universal and doesn’t apply to certain types only. Making it even more useful.
Catching Power¶
Effect: Increased chance of catching Pokémon with Poké Balls.
If you’re trying to fill your Pokédex or catch some tricky Legendary Pokémon, you don’t want to leave home without this. This will make it easier to catch Pokémon of a certain Type.
Exp. Point Power¶
Effect: Increased amount of experience points from battles.
Are you stuck at a tricky fight or feel like your Pokémon are a bit under-leveled? Well, this Meal Power could be useful when grinding out Levels for your Pokémon.
Item Drop Power¶
Effect: Increased amount of TM materials from battles.
You can never have too many materials. Especially if you’re trying to teach your Pokémon multiple TMs.
Raid Power¶
Effect: Increased amount of rewards from Tera Raid Battles.
A no-brainer if you’re attempting Tera Raid Battles to nab rare items like Tera Crystal Shards and Herba Mystica.
Title Power¶
Effect: Increased chance of encountering Pokémon with Titles.
A bit on the obscure side. Every Pokémon you catch has a chance of possessing a Mark, depending on the circumstances of their capture. Marks can be viewed in a Pokémon’s status screen. If a Pokémon has a Mark, you can equip it to bestow the corresponding Title to that Pokémon.
Sparkling Power¶
Effect: Increased chance of encountering Shiny Pokémon.
Essential if you’re serious about shiny-hunting. This only works on wild Pokémon, not Pokémon hatched from Eggs or encountered in Tera Raid Battles.
Humungo Power¶
Effect: Increased chance of encountering Pokémon of a large Size.
You may have noticed that the same Pokémon can come in slightly different sizes. This is noticeable when you encounter a big group of Pokémon–some may be smaller, while some may be bigger. Anyway, this effect makes it more likely for Pokémon of a certain Type to be big. Great if you love having big things.
Teensy Power¶
Effect: Increased chance of encountering Pokémon of a small Size.
This is the same deal as Humungo Power, but for small Pokémon. Great if you love having teeny tiny stuff.
Encounter Power¶
Effect: Increased chance of encountering Pokémon of a certain Type.
Last but not least, if you’re searching for a Pokémon species that has a low spawn rate, you’ll probably want this.
