Meloetta is a Mythical Pokémon introduced in the Gen 5 games that you can obtain in the Indigo Disk DLC for Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. However, it’s a secret Pokémon that isn’t easy to find!
Meloetta Location¶
First, you’ll need to head to the Coastal Biome in the Terarium, specifically the Coastal Outdoor Classroom, towards the south-west part of the biome, up the mountain.
From there, go a short distance east towards a patch of grassland on lower elevation, touching the mountain lake.
Next, position yourself around the center of the northern half of these grasslands: Location on our map. You want to be near a tall piece of foliage at the intersecting point of three taller trees.
Look for a slight gust of wind with circling leaves flying around.
Stand around the center of the gust and spin your character (by rotating the circle pad) clock-wise, in the same direction as the gust/leaves, for several seconds. If in doubt, spin for around 30 seconds.
Quickly turn on the camera with the Down button, then switch to the Sepia filter by pressing Left five times.
Now search around and, if done correctly, you should hear singing. This means Meloetta has spawned.
If you don’t hear anything, try again, perhaps from a slightly different spot. Or by spinning around a different amount of time.
If Meloetta has spawned, turn off the camera once you’ve spotted Meloetta or otherwise. Then approach Meloetta and interact with the A button to begin the battle to catch it.
How to Catch Meloetta¶
Meloetta is a Level 70 Normal and Psychic type. It’s carrying Relic Song, Hyper Voice, Sing and Psychic.
When Meloetta uses Relic Song, it will switch to its Normal and Fighting type Pirouette form. When used again, it will revert to its original Aria form.
Ghost types are useful to nullify damage from Relic Song and Hyper Voice (but bear in mind Meloetta is Normal so takes no damage from Ghost attacks), while Dark types will nullify damage from Psychic. Sing can be a minor nuisance, since it may put your Pokémon to sleep.
Otherwise, the usual practices for catching strong/Legendary Pokémon will serve you well here. Chip away at Meloetta’s HP with weaker moves, using False Swipe if necessary to lower to 1 HP. Moves that can Paralyze or Sleep may also help. After that, lob your best Poké Balls like Ultra Balls (or your prettiest ones).
