Diablo 4 has plenty of little things around the game you can find, and one of them is the Silent Chest feature. The Silent Chests in Diablo 4 are rare spawn versions of chests that players can find in the open world. These chests will have chains and a padlock around them, requiring you to open them using a special key called a Whispering Key.
How to Open Silent Chests in Diablo 4¶
So, now you’ve stumbled around the world and found one of these mysterious silent chests, take a note of its location and return back to the main town in the region. Now you’re there. You need to head to the Purveyor of Curiosities, who will sell you the item you need called the Whispering Key.
The Whispering Key is found at the bottom of her gambling loot list, and costs 20 Obols. If you’re unfamiliar with Obols, it is a currency you get for completing world events. These can be the cursed chests in Dungeons, or those random ghost escorts, ritual sites, and other events you find as you walk around the world. These events typically award you with 20 Obols, which is enough to purchase and have one key on you at all times.
Once you have the key, you can now open Silent Chests. Opening one of these silent chests grants better loot chances and even opportunities at legendaries. So, they are worth opening whenever you can open one.
You can carry multiple Whispering Keys in your inventory, so if you have the Obols, it is worth stocking up on a handful.
