While leveling in Diablo 4, you will place points into the Abilities’ menu which earn you different passive and active skills and abilities. As you progress through the game, you will most likely want to change them due to them either not being very good, or them not aligning with your playstyle. Fortunately, you can respec in Diablo 4, although it can be easy to overlook.
Are Respecs Free?¶
You may ask yourself if respecs cost anything, and the short answer is yes, but it free until you reach level seven which is early in the game. After that, it’ll cost you a small amount of gold per skill point refunded, and at later levels, this begins to get expensive.
Where to Respec¶
There are two ways you can respec in Diablo 4, Refund All, and Refund a specific skill. To do this, you’ll need to head to the Abilities’ menu which can be accessed by going into the Character menu and selecting the Abilities tab. From here, you can press the / button to Refund All. This will refund every point you have spent thus far for a small sum of gold. This becomes more expensive with the more points that you have invested. If you only want to respec a singular or specific skill, you can hover over that particular ability, and hold down the / which will give you the skill point back for that skill while also costing significantly less gold.
Why to Respec¶
As stated above, you will be respeccing often due to the nature of Diablo. As you progress in the levels, more skills become available, certain aspects become available, and you’ll get new Specialization over time. On top of all that, as you progress through the game, and unlock new World Tiers/difficulties, you may need to fine-tune some parts of your build to match the challenge. Then you have PvP, where your entire build will most likely change.
