Every season in Diablo IV seems to have some kind of new faction popping up with a questline and accompanying gameplay event of varying length and quality to keep returning players entertained, at least temporarily. While these seasonal plotlines tend not to be too involved, they often contain a bit of lore and, more importantly, offer rewards for completing them. The Season of Hatred Rising doesn’t break the mold here, introducing players to the Zakarum Remnants and rewarding them for completing [Infernal Horde] and Realmwalker events. This page will cover the Zakarum Remnants, how to improve your standing with them, and what rewards you get for doing so in Diablo IV.

Zakarum Remnants Ranks¶
To start your affiliation with the Zakarum Remnants, just travel to Zarbinzet in Hawezar and north of the waypoint you’ll find Crusader Damond. Talk to him and after a bit of chatter you’ll get the dialog option “Show me my standing with the Zakarum Remnants.”. By doing this you can check your progress and, if you’ve earned any ranks ups with the Zakarum Remnants, claim any rewards for said rank up.
List of Zakarum Remnant Rewards¶
Rank | Reward | Contents |
---|---|---|
Rank 1 | Abnormal Weapon | Contains a Weapon and Elixirs |
Rank 2 | Eerie Samples | Contains Baneful Hearts and Seething Opals. |
Rank 3 | Antique Case | Contains Weapons and Crafting Materials. |
Rank 4 | Aromatic Case | Contains a Weapon, Elixirs and Crafting Materials. |
Rank 5 | Gift of the Realms | Contains Gem Fragments, a Scattered Prism, and two Uniques for your Class. |
Rank 6 | Que-Hegan Steel | Contains Legendaries, Infernal Compasses, Baneful Hearts and crafting materials. |
Rank 7 | Protectors’ Warmth | Contains Legendaries, Boss Summoning Materials, Artificers Stones, and Crafting Materials. |
Rank 8 | Kurast Refinery | Contains Legendaries, Obducite, Gem Fragments, and Scattered Prisms. |
Rank 9 | Legacy of Disgrace | Contains Uniques, Artificer’s Stones, and Boss Summoning Materials. |
Rank 10 | Window to Creation | Contains Ancestral Legendaries and a vast amount of Crafting Materials. |
Rank 11 | Spoils of the Realm Conqueror | Contains Ancestral Legendaries and Boss Summoning Materials. |
Rank 12 | Severed Hand of the Zakarum | Contains Ancestral Legendaries, Ancestral Uniques, and a vast amount of materials. |
Each time a rank up you can visit Crusader Damond and claim a cache from him. Like with all other caches, the exact drops are RNG, but you can generally expect to get gear, crafting materials, boss summoning materials, gem fragments and more. The higher the rank, the better the quality of the loot, but given how hard it is to find solid upgrades in the endgame, you probably shouldn’t expect much out of these drops - they’ll probably end up salvaged at a blacksmith in short order.
Improving Your Standing with the Zakarum Remnants¶
While the concept behind the Zakarum Remnants rank and reward system is pretty simple, actually earning favor with them can prove to be a chore, depending on your preferences. The best way to earn favor with the Zakarum Remnants is by killing enemies during Realmwalker events. Pretty much any kill during a Realmwalker even will get you some points of Zakarum favor (indicated by green text), but it’s still a slow, albeit reliable process. You can supplement the dozens of Realmwalker runs you’ll have to do with Seething Opals, which also grant you Zakarum Remnant favor from kills when in effect, but this is much slower and less consistent. Either way, expect to devote several hours to grinding this out, at a minimum.
