Learning how to defeat X’Fal, The Scarred Baron is key in getting through the Prologue in Diablo IV’s Act I. "Icehowl Ruins" iconIcehowl Ruins is a treacherous place, but it’s a manageable challenge and a good introduction to the basic mechanics of the fabled Diablo ARPG franchise. In the lead-up to X’Fal, The Scarred Baron, Adventurers should be well on their way to Level 5 and able to look after themselves. The upcoming boss fight at the end of The Hell-Touched Corridors is no walk in the park however given it’s the first one in Diablo 4. Let’s break down how to defeat X’Fal, The Scarred Baron, including top tips and drops Heroes can expect.

Dodging attacks and hitting X’Fal, The Scarred Baron is a solid strategy for the first Diablo IV Boss Fight.

How To Defeat X’Fal, The Scarred Baron

Whilst tackling the “"Darkness Within" iconDarkness Within” main quest, Hero’s will reach the cursed depths below the Icehowl Ruins and venture through the Hell-Touched Corridors. The second Healing Well marks the point on no return, so make sure to equip the best gear found so far and heal up. Carry on North down the corridors and past the Healing Well to enter the Chamber of Calling.

Candles surround summoning circles with a Decapitated Priest, interact with the holy corpse to call forth X’Fal, The Scarred Baron. Make sure to move out of the way as it falls to the ground. Before spamming B/Circle to evade, remember that this skill has a five second cool down. We will need to use this wisely to avoid defeat.

(1 of 5) Interact with the decapitated priest to start the boss fight against !X’fal, The Scarred Baron.

!X’Fal will start my rapidly approaching Hero’s and executing two long sweeping hits, evade these attacks head on to land at the back of !X’Fal to land a few blows. Rinse and repeat as he smacks down in the ground repeatedly with his enormous Mace. !X’fals next move will see it rise above the summoning circles to bring forth "Hellstormer" iconHellstormers which can easily be dispatched whilst the summoning process is still in progress. This is then followed up with a jump and stomp, so make sure to spot the landing marks to evade or move away.

The cycle then repeats, with !X’Fal spilling his move pool onto players, with each hit from it’s Mace dealing +19.8 Stagger can also deals vulnerable damage. There’s only two scenarios where Heroes need to use evade, just as !X’Fal attacks using its Mace to get behind the demon to deal damage and to dodge jump attacks. Following this strategy will result in the defeat of X’fal, The Scarred Baron and some useful drops alongside 1505 XP and 31 Gold.
