There are four core player stats in Diablo 4; Strength, Intelligence, Willpower and Dexterity, and each stat grants different bonuses to different characters. On this page we’ll discuss these stats and the effects they have for each class.
How to Increase Stats in Diablo 4¶
Your four core stats vary by class, with different characters having variable starting stats:
Character | Strength | Intelligence | Willpower | Dexterity |
---|---|---|---|---|
Barbarian | 10 | 7 | 7 | 8 |
Druid | 7 | 8 | 10 | 7 |
Necromancer | 7 | 10 | 8 | 7 |
Rogue | 7 | 7 | 8 | 10 |
Sorcerer | 7 | 10 | 8 | 7 |
Regardless of your class, every time you level up you’ll gain a +1 bonus to every stat.
Aside from leveling, you can gain minor stat boosts by claiming Altars of Lilith. Each one typically gives a +2 bonus to a single stat, individually a paltry sum, and some don’t give stats at all, instead boosting your maximum Murmuring Obols carrying capacity or your [Paragon Level]. Still, consider that there are 160 Altars of Lilith in the game - even split less than four ways, that’s still a few dozen points per stat… assuming you’re willing to hunt them all down.
A more reliable way to boost your stats is by equipping different gear. Stat boosts are a common mod on all gear, with the ranges of these bonuses increasing as the gear’s level and quality does. Early on you may only be getting bonuses of 10-20 to a single stat from a single piece of gear, but by the endgame you could be getting hundreds of stat points from your equipment. A single stat point is fairly insignificant, but a few hundred can have a measurable effect… depending on the class and stat, of course.
Finally there are [Paragon Levels]. Your rate of leveling slows down after you hit level 50, but every quarter of a level you’ll gain a Paragon Point, which you can use to unlock a single node on a Paragon Board. These nodes often have stat boosts on them, with +5 being the most common denomination, especially on common nodes. Since you can pick what nodes you want to activate, however, and you’ll be investing dozens of Paragon Points as you cross Paragon Boards, this can easily net you a few hundred stat points over the course of the game - a number enhanced when you consider the effects of [Glyphs], which can enhance the bonuses granted by nearby nodes.

Druids also gain +0.03% Resource Generation per point of Intelligence (100 Intelligence = +3% Druid Resource Generation) and Rogues gain +0.02% Critical Strike Chance per point of Intelligence (100 Intelligence = +2% Critical Strike Chance). Finally, all characters gain +0.1% Healing Received (100 Willpower = +10% Healing Received) and +0.25% Overpower Damage (100 Willpower = +25% Overpower Damage) per point of Willpower.
