Not all side quests are a matter of searching the map region-by-region for a blue exclamation point - some require a little dumb luck on the player’s part to trigger. Exorcist’s Cache is one of this hidden side quests in Diablo 4, and this page will provide a walkthrough for how to find the Sealed Exorcist’s Cache and how to gather spirit anima from undead once you have it.
How to Start Exorcist’s Cache in Diablo 4¶
Another obscure side quest, in order to start it you must find the Sealed Exorcist Cache, which is a random drop from enemies. The enemy type doesn’t seem to matter, but we typically found this item along the northern reaches of the Fractured Peaks - both in Sarkova Pass, the Frigid Expanse and, we imagine, the Seat of the Heavens, but it may spawn in more locations. Just keep your eye out for a teal item drop. It’s really just a matter of dumb luck and attentiveness.
How to Complete Exorcist’s Cache in Diablo 4¶
One you have the Sealed Exorcist Cache, a large search area will appear along the northern edge of the Frigid Expanse, encompassing everything from the top of the area down to the [Black Asylum] dungeon, including the entirety of Kor Vos. This area is especially prone to manifesting malign spirits, and for once that’s a good thing, as the sole objective of this quest is to Gather spirit anima from the undead, which is a fancy way of saying “go kill wraiths and phantoms until the red bar is full”. Unfortunately corporeal undead - much less living enemies - do not seem to count towards this goal, and it takes quite a few kills to satisfy this quest objective, so you may find yourself wandering about killing red ghosts for a while.
Fill the meter up fully and the quest will automatically complete. Not only will you earn some XP and Gold, but the “Sealed Exorcist Cache” will become an Unsealed Exorcist Cache, which you can then open via your inventory to spawn a variety of treasures, including Murmuring Obols, crafting materials, potions and the odd magical item.
