The final quest in the Tenets of Depravity series in Vessel of Hatred is Scion of Blasphemies. This quest takes you to the Temple of Profane, where you’ll eventually meet Captain Kharov. Read on to find out where to find the Temple of Profane and how you can complete the quest.
Temple of Profane Location¶
If you’re continuing this quest from the previous quest, you can directly go east along the paths to find it. Alternatively, you can teleport to Kurast Bazaar, leave via the northwestern exit, and head west.
The Temple can be found north of the Forlorn Burrow Cellar, where you’ll find Marzhan the Scribe waiting for you by the entrance. After speaking with Marzhan, the Temple will be accessible.
Temple of Profane Walkthrough¶
The Temple of Profane is where your blood pilgrimage will begin. You will have to retrieve three skulls, each protected by a guard. Once you have the skull, you can use it to unlock the next door to progress further in.
Pharus Condemned Trophy¶
From the entrance, follow the linear path northeast, defeating the enemies along the way. At the end of the path is your first locked door, requiring the Condemned Trophy to progress. Backtrack a little and head north, go up the stairs, and climb up the wall to find the Shrine of Suffering.
Pharus will be waiting for you at the back, accompanied by some minions. Wait for him to continue his lecture before you fight them. Defeat the minions first before you focus on Pharus, although he can summon more. Pharus is relatively easy, although he does have a couple of tricks up his sleeve.
His main attack will place numerous orange circles on the floor where comets will drop and split into three projectiles on impact. Another attack he has is his teleport, which creates a brief lightning circle around him.
Finally, he has his regular attack, which unleashes three fire projectiles at your location. This shouldn’t cause you too many problems, just make sure you move out of the orange circles and be aware that three projectiles will come out of each circle, so move slightly further away from them than normal.
Once you’ve defeated Pharus, pick up the skull on the stone desk, head down the slope (next to the wall you climbed to get there), and place the trophy in the locked door nearby to progress further.
Chamber of Slaughter¶
The following room will have you defeat hordes of enemies while spike traps pop out of the ground. The enemies themselves shouldn’t cause too many concerns, but the traps might. The easiest way to avoid them is to stand in any corner of the room and defeat the enemies there, only moving when you need to evade an attack.
Each wave of enemies will come with a few elites, and your priority should be the Flesh Cultivators, as their poison circle attacks can be a huge issue. After defeating three waves of enemies, the door will unlock, and you can progress further.
Grigoriy Condemned Trophy¶
Proceed northeast through the door, defeat the enemies, and once again, your progress will be blocked by another door requiring a Condemned Trophy. Backtrack a little and head south, where you’ll find a wall to climb.
Follow the path south and east, defeat the groups of enemies, and make your way to the room in the far northeast. In the putrid green, yellow room, you’ll find Grigoriy in the center.
Grigoriy is surprisingly quick, and it’ll chase you around the room attacking you with melee attacks, while leaving pools of poison behind it. For this battle, keep moving around the room, evading through Grigoriy, and attacking its back.
Don’t stay too long trading blows with it as you could find yourself standing in a pool of poison. As long as you maneuver around the poison pools, you shouldn’t have any problems with it.
Once Grigoriy is defeated, pick up the Condemned Trophy from the pedestal against the northeastern wall. Now, follow the steps you took to get here and place the trophy in the door to progress further.
Chamber of Carnage¶
Similar to the previous chamber, you’ll have spike traps coming from the floor, so standing in a corner is your best bet to avoid them. This room is more or less the same as the previous chamber, dealing with the hordes of enemies while avoiding the spike traps, however, this room has more elite enemies.
Make sure you focus on taking out the Flesh Cultivators first for their poison attacks, then any elite with the Mortar modifier, and finally the explosive modifier. Once again, you’ll have three waves of enemies to contend with before the way forward is unlocked.
Victor Condemned Trophy¶
The final trophy can be found on the way through the temple. You’ll find him just past the Chamber of Carnage. Victor is the weakest of the bunch, and if you go all out on him, the battle will be over before it starts. Once you’ve defeated Victor, pick up the trophy from the pedestal at the base of the stairs, and continue northeast, where you’ll find the Vault of the Demigod.
Captain Kharov Boss Guide¶
In the center of the room, you’ll find Captain Kharov kneeling while grasping his sword. Walk up to him, and he’ll get up and make a speech before killing Marzhan the Scribe, triggering the start of the boss battle.
Captain Kharov wields a polearm and will frequently stab at you from a distance. When he’s not being stabby, he’ll cast pools of fire that persist on the floor, making it more difficult to maneuver. When he does this, move over to a part of the arena away from these to give you more space to evade. After casting the fire pools, he’ll slam his weapon onto the ground, and three lines of fire will travel across the arena.
Sometimes, Kharov can make those pools of fire explode and they will expand. This is another reason you want to keep repositioning away from the pools of fire. When Kharov’s health drops below 50%, he’ll begin casting more pools of fire and will make them explode quicker.
Although Kharov doesn’t have a lot of attacks, he can still be a difficult opponent due to the damage his melee attacks deal, and the lack of space on the battlefield making it harder to evade without taking damage.
In short, you want to keep moving into space, away from the fire pools, while constantly dealing damage to him. You can use your evades on his melee attacks, as you have more than enough time to run into space, so you don’t need to waste them there.
Upon the defeat of Captain Kharov, the quest will immediately finish, and you’ll be rewarded with a variety of loot, including a legendary helmet. This is also a requirement for the Deeds of a Champion quest chain.
