Events are semi-random activities you can engage in located at fixed locations throughout Sanctuary - where Events spawn is fixed, but what event will actually be at a location at any given time varies. When you’re near the location of an Event spawn, if there’s an active Event ready the area will be marked with a red circle. Sometimes you have to interact with some object or NPC to kick off the Event, other times the Event will start once you get close enough. All events respawn after a short period of time. This page will cover how to find and complete the Hold Your Ground Event in Diablo 4
How to Start the Hold Your Ground Event in Diablo 4¶
Hold Your Ground is a somewhat rare Event in Diablo 4, only appearing in certain set piece areas designed for it. One such location is Radiance Field Cemetery, located conveniently just south of Kyovashad. Keep in mind that while Hold Your Ground can spawn here, it’s not the only event that can appear at the Radiance Field Cemetery.
How to Complete the Hold Your Ground Event in Diablo 4¶
Most events have you slaying groups of enemies in a set amount of time - the more efficiently you kill, the more likely you are to complete the “mastery” condition, earning a bonus reward at the end of the event. In this regard, Hold Your Ground is a fairly standard event, save that you’re not on a timer - you’re defending a Wanderer from waves of enemies. In this sense, the “timer” is effectively the Wander’s life bar.
The first few waves shouldn’t be much trouble, consisting of several nondescript enemies which can vary depending on the location of the event. Whatever type of enemy you’re facing, the first two waves are unlikely to feature anything remotely threatening, although the third wave can spawn an elite. This particular foe is more of a speedbump than a legitimate threat, but you do have to work fast and keep your eye on your minimap - taking to long or having a lapse of attention could cause enemies to reach the Wanderer, and while he’s not made out of paper, you can’t rely on him to contribute much, offensively. As long as you keep elite enemies away (and their attendant damage spikes due to the traits they possess), however, you should be fine.
Note that “groups” and “waves” aren’t entirely synonymous during this event. Some waves may include more than one group of enemy spawning in different places, and depending on the location of this event, some enemies may spawn far enough away that they don’t aggro, forcing you to seek them out in order to advance.
The fourth wave is likely to include more than one group of enemies, while the fifth wave is lead by the event boss, who will probably be stronger than the elite foe you possibly encountered in wave three, but not overwhelmingly so. Kill the event boss quickly, if possible, to keep him away from the Wanderer, then head back to the Wanderer and mop up the mobs from different spawn groups that made their way to him during the fracas with the event boss. If you keep the Wanderer alive you’ll complete this event’s master objective, earning a bonus reward.
Either way, you’ll a score chest that will drop magical items and possibly some crafting components and/or gems, as well as some Murmuring Obols. You’ll also earn XP and Gold based on your level. If you completed the “mastery” objective for the event you’ll earn more of pretty much everything above.
