Near the end of Final Fantasy 16, during the Brotherhood main scenario quest, a few more hunts become available with one of these Notorious Marks being “The Blood Moon”, also known as Terminus. Terminus is a large spherical object constructed from Fallen remnants that reside in The Crock, Sanbreque. Read below to find the exact location of Terminus as well as our in-depth strategy on defeating it.
Where to Find The Blood Moon, Terminus¶

This hunt won’t appear unless you’re at or past the Brotherhood main scenario quest. Once you do have access to the hunt, teleport to the Dragon’s Aery obelisk. From there, hug the southern wall and follow it southwest until you can head south again. This area is the Imperial Chase, follow the spider-infested forest southeast then north when you can. At the end of the forest trail will be The Crock which is a Fallen Ruin, and inside the ruin is Terminus. Walk up to the large ball laying on the surface to initiate the battle.
Terminus’ Abilities and Attacks¶
Below you’ll find all the attacks that Terminus has in its arsenal:

This will be used three times before following it up with Spark Explosion. | This attack will be used a lot during the battle, and it can be used multiple times in quick succession. Recommended Abilities for Terminus¶
Here we will list our recommended ability set up to do this fight effectively:

The reason behind the chosen abilities is as follows. Odin’s Zantetsuken when used at level 5 is powerful, to say the least, and can be used quite frequently especially when combined with Dancing Steel which can give you 3–4 levels of Zantetsuken in one attack. Rift Slip allows you to cancel an action immediately should you need to while also allowing you to slow down time briefly when followed up after a combo to give you more time to get Dancing Steel off as it takes a while to execute.
Shiva’s Cold Snap can Permafrost enemies whenever you perform a successful Precision Dodge which makes her invaluable to have while also having access to Diamond Dust which is the strongest Will-Damage attack in the game. Then take Lightning Rod from Ramuh to place in front of Terminus when it is staggered to amplify any multiple-hit attacks we do.
Finally, take Bahamut for Gigaflare which is one of the most powerful attacks in the game. This is fantastic to use at any time, but especially at the end of a stagger phase when combined with Lightning Rod. You could switch out Bahamut with Titan for added defense with Titanic Block, but Bahamut’s Wings of Light can be really strong, especially when you get to level 5 Megaflare just before the stagger phase.
Recommended Items and Equipment for Terminus¶
Gear¶
For your Weapon, Belt, and Vambraces, you should have the following:

If you don’t have what’s listed above, use the highest Attack for the Weapon, and the highest Defense and Health for the Belt and Vambraces. If you do the hunt during the last scenario mission, equip The Founder’s Grasp instead of The Sons of Ouroboros which is from the side quest “Where There’s a Will”.
Accessories¶
For your Accessories, this is more subjective, so here is what we used:

Items¶
Finally, we have items. This is more of a preference thing, but we chose the following items:

Although Terminus has a few tricky attacks to contend with, it shouldn’t cause you too many problems at this point of the game. That is why we suggest bringing Strength Tonics as they will increase your damage by 30%, ending the battle quicker.
Terminus Hunt Strategy¶
The best tip for fighting Terminus is keep Will-o’-the-Wykes on you at all times, especially for its Spark Clap and Hypersurge attacks as these can be difficult to avoid. Believe it or not, the toughest attacks to evade are it’s generic Spark Clap attack due to Terminus following you around and clapping above your head really quickly, and Hypersurge, which will cause significant damage to you if you get hit by all three attacks especially when you’re in front of Terminus, and let’s be honest, you will be.
The rest of its attacks are easy enough to avoid as they’re telegraphed, and you’ll see them coming a mile away. The only other attack you may struggle with is Short Circuit, but Terminus doesn’t use this a lot, and it’s basically the Energy Beam attack on steroids. Simply wait for the beams to reach you, and dodge through them in the direction they came from. Repeat this for every beam that comes your way, and you’ll be fine.
At this stage of the game, you’ll have access to powerful abilities such as Bahamut’s Gigaflare, Odin’s Zantetsuken, and Shiva’s Diamond Dust. All of these are fantastic abilities with the former two being the highest damage attacks in the game, and the latter being the best Will-Gauge shattering attack. You’re basic action plan should be Lightning Rod > Diamond Dust to break the Will-Gauge with two of these being more than enough to accomplish that goal. While you’re waiting for Diamond Dust to come off cooldown, use Dancing Steel to raise the Zantetsuken gauge to level 5. Then during the Stagger phase, use Limit Break (Strength Tonic) > Lightning Rod > Gigaflare > Level 5 Zantetsuken. If you still have time left on the stagger gauge, throw in a Dancing Steel or Diamond Dust. You can increase the damage even further if you use a Level 5 Megaflare just before the stagger phase too!
As you can see above, you have too much in your arsenal for Terminus to really be much of a threat, especially when two stagger phases at most will be enough to end them. Once you’ve defeated Terminus, you’ll be rewarded with 3,200 XP, 85 AP, 9,800 Gil, and 35 Renown. On top of that, you’ll obtain two Meteorites from the spoils.
