The Rekindling the Flame II side quest in Final Fantasy 16 can be acquired in Martha’s Rest once you reach the Across the Narrow main quest. Here you’ll find a person named Martha and she’ll ask you to deliver some seeds to Wade. We’ll take you through the necessary steps to completion and to defeating the Akashic Bandercoeurl.
Martha asks that Clive deliver some gysahl greens seeds to Wade in Eastpool, that their new settlement might at length become self-sufficient.
How to Start the Rekindling the Flame II Side Quest in Final Fantasy 16¶
First things first, you’ll need to have completed the main story mission Through the Maelstrom, and be on Across the Narrow, then you’ll want to complete the Side Quest Rekindling the Flame. When those requirements have been met, head over to Martha’s Rest and speak with Martha to begin this quest. With Eastpool up and running she requests that you deliver some seeds to Wade so they can begin growing their own plants.
How to Survive the Akashic Hoard¶
Once you’re done talking to Martha, fast travel to the Eastpool Obelisk and speak with Wade and you’ll discover that they’ve been hard at work trying to build defenses as a large hoard of enemies seem to be closing in. Unfortunately whilst Wade is talking you’ll be informed that the enemies have arrived and they’ll need Clive’s help to clear them out. At first you’ll face a large pack of Akashic Goblins and Thistles, so group them up and use your AoE Abilities, such as Flames of Rebirth or Aerial Blast to clear them out.
After you’ve dealt with the large pack of enemies some Akashic Dragonets will spawn, so pull them down to the ground with Deadly Embrace and use your strong single attacks to take them down. At this point more and more Akashic enemies will spawn, so keep using your AoE Abilities to take them down quickly. However, be sure to pay close attention to your health and heal up often otherwise the combined damage could easily take you out. Eventually a scene will trigger, then you’ll want to follow the path down to the south until you reach the Rhiannon’s Ride area which is located in the Greensheaves sub-region.
How to Defeat the Akashic Bandercoeurl¶
When you arrive you’ll be immediately greeted by Akashic Bandercoeurl which is an elite enemy, so you’ll want to work on staggering it which can be done by getting the bar down to the halfway point with Magic Bursts, then follow it up with Diamond Dust. You’ll now want to place Lightning Rod down in front of it and activate Limit Break before unleashing Gigaflare. As long as you aren’t massively underleveled then you should take this enemy down after two full staggers.
As with all elite enemies in Final Fantasy 16 you’ll have to watch out for some attacks and unlike the Two Scoops enemy you fought in the Rekindling the Flame Side Quest, the Akashic Bandercoeurl attacks can be punishing. Below you will find a rundown of what they are and how to avoid them:
- Lightning Balls - Akashic Bandercoeurl will charge up a single large lightning ball and shoot it towards you, so just get ready to dodge when you see it charge up the attack.
- Leap - If you get too far away, then Akashic Bandercoeurl will jump towards you. If you don’t dodge out of the way, then you’ll take a little bit of damage.
- Whipwreck - Akashic Bandercoeurl will electrify its whiskers and sweep the area in front of him. Here you’ll want to stand far away to avoid it.
After you’ve defeated the Akashic Bandercoeurl you’ll return to Eastpool and a short scene will play out, then you’ll want to return to Martha’s Rest and inform of whats happened to bring the quest to close. Here you’ll be rewarded with the Martha’s Rest Signboard, Wyrrite x100 and Meteorite x1.
