The Hot Water side quest in Final Fantasy 16 can be acquired in The Dalimil Inn once you reach the Follow the Crystals main quest. Here you’ll find a person named Xaver and they will explain that bathhouse water is too hot. We’ll take you through the necessary steps to completion and how to cool the water down.
The owner of a bathhouse in Dalimil bids Clive journey to Doeznov Terraces and investigate the cause of the waters having become too hot for his customers to bear.
How to Start The Hot Water Side Quest in Final Fantasy 16¶
First things first, you’ll need to have completed the main story mission Riddle of the Sands, and be on Follow the Crystals. When those requirements have been met, head over to Xaver who can be found in The Baths area of The Dalimil Inn. Speak with him and you’ll discover that the baths business has been temporarily due to the temperature of the water being extremely hot. Unfortunately, he can’t investigate the issue himself, as his customers will think he’s abandoned the place and has requested you look into it for him.
Where To Find Doeznov Terraces¶
Once you’ve finished speaking with Xaver, follow the path south of The Dalimil Inn until you reach the crossroads, then head west until you reach the Doeznov Terraces which reside in the Fangsdrip sub-regions. Here you’ll come across the reason why the waters have been hot and it’s due to multiple Bath Bombs in the area, so you’ll need to take them down to get things back to normal.
These enemies will explode if you take too long to defeat them, so you’ll want to deal as much damage as possible, so you’ll want to start the battle with Limit Break to increase your damage, then you’ll want to make use of attacks that can hit multiple enemies at once, such as Aerial Blast, Heatwave and Earthen Fury. If you’re unable to defeat them quickly and you start to see them get bigger, then you’ll want to keep your distance and wait for it to explode.
How to Defeat Old Faithful¶
Once you’ve defeated the first set of Bath Bombs, some more will along with another enemy which is called Old Faithful that has some ranged attacks that you’ll need to be aware of. Firstly, defeat the Bath Bombs, then focus all of your attention onto Old Faithful which has the following attacks:
- Coronation - This will cause him to charge up and shoot out a large fireball in your direction, so dodge the side to avoid it or counter it with the Heatwave Ability. Additionally, it’ll place a large AoE on the floor where it lands, so avoid standing on it or you’ll gradually take damage.
- Bash - If you stand too close to Old Faithful, then it’ll bash straight into you. Although this won’t deal much damage, it’s best to have a couple of hits and then retreat to avoid it.
- Dark Fireball - Throughout the battle Old Faithful will shoot out smaller dark fireballs which will deal about a quarter of your health, so as long as you’re keeping your distance, then you can simply dodge out of the way before it reaches you.
After you’ve defeated all of the enemies return to Xaver at The Baths to inform that the situation has been resolve and what was the cause, then the quest will come to a close and you’ll be rewarded with a Scarletite which is a useful crafting material and The Breath of the Inferno (Ignition) Accessory. This reduces the cooldown of the Ignition Ability by 2.2 seconds.
