You will want to grab as many side quests as possible in the early game to level Clive up quickly. Pride Comes Before a Fall is a quick side quest that can be picked up shortly after reaching Northreach, in the Holy Empire of Sanbreque. You can pick it up almost as soon as you have the freedom to move around the city. The guide below goes over how to start Pride Comes Before a Fall and how to defeat the two guards you must fight during the quest in Final Fantasy XVI.
How to Start Pride Comes Before a Fall in FF16¶
Pride Comes Before a Fall becomes available during The Dame quest, which is part of the Righting Wrongs main story quest. You can find this quest in the Knight’s Garrison by speaking with two over confident guards, Leon and Robin. They will ask Clive to battle with them. Keep in mind that this quest won’t be around after you cross the point of no return by completing the main story quest The Crystal’s Curse.
How to Beat The Guards in Pride Comes Before a Fall¶
Once you are ready to fight, you simply need to let the guards know. First, you will fight with Leon, and after you defeat him, you will need to best Robin. These are normal fights with knights, only you are locked into a circular arena. You can quickly deplete their health bars by using Eikonic abilities. Depending on how strong you are, you might defeat them before even triggering a stagger.
Once you have defeated Leon and Robin the quest will conclude. For your troubles, Clive will receive 20 XP, 1,100 Gil, and 1x Meteorite. If you’re looking for more to do, then be sure to pick up one of the other quests around The Holy Empire of Sanbreque
