Following the events in the Crystalline Dominion, Clive will return to The Hideaway, where he’ll ultimately busy himself dealing with various problems that have arisen. This busywork constitutes the main quest Things Fall Apart and its subquests The Flames of War, Why We Fight and Down the Rabbit Hole. Only when these quests are completed will another problem arise; the Akashic hordes are assailing Kanver, putting some of Clive’s closest allies - including Byron and Mid - at risk. This page will provide a walkthrough for Cloak and Dagger in Final Fantasy XVI, including all the treasure you can find and all the enemies you’ll encounter.

Regal Sash |
This is a fairly simple quest, yet it can take a while to complete, mostly because you have to traverse a good bit of ground and sit through numerous scenes and conversations. You can speed things up significantly if you avoid diversions and run past enemies, but you can also make this quest take even longer by exploring and taking care of some hunts and side quests you previously didn’t have access to.
To start things out, travel to The Krozjit Echoes, a new obelisk that will take you to Eastern Dhalmekia, specifically to some high ground between The Dalimil Inn to the southwest and Boklad to the northeast. You’ll be mostly heading south, passing over some low ground that connects Western Dhalmekia and Eastern Dhalmekia. Your first goal is to reach Tabor, a town to the southeast.
How to Find the Regal Sash - FF16 Cloak and Dagger Main Quest Walkthrough¶
Make your way south until you spot some ruins to the southeast, bridging an otherwise impassible gap. You’ll need to cross it in order to advance, but there’s a lucrative diversion you can take, first. Go southwest and you’ll eventually stumble across a Coeurl, which guards a chest. Dispatch the miniboss and loot the chest to obtain the Regal Sash, which is an upgrade over the Drakeslayer’s Belt.
How to Reach Tabor - FF16 Cloak and Dagger Main Quest Walkthrough¶
Score this bonus loot, then make your way back to the ruins, dispatching some Defense Node and Fallen Bug enemies as you cross. On the far side of the ruins you’ll encounter some Fallen Hunters and a Bomb. After this fight you can take a detour along a ledge to the southwest to encounter a Fallen Guardian miniboss, but it doesn’t guard anything of value. Continue south, then southeast until you reach the next area - the Rymasov Flat - along the way dealing a flock of Helldivers along the way, and a pack of Akashic Rakk when you arrive. You can also talk to a Wounded Republican Soldier to start the side quest Bad Blood, the entirety of which takes place just up ahead - a very easy quest to complete en route to Tabor.
Speaking of which, you’re in the home stretch now - just continue south across the vermin-infested flats to reach Tabor. When you arrive, claim the Tabor Obelisk and enter the house near the obelisk to trigger a series of scenes. Eleven minutes later you’ll be back out in Tabor and ready to move on.
New Side Quests and Hunts During Cloak and Dagger - FF16 Cloak and Dagger Main Quest Walkthrough¶
Before you leave, however, note that that there are two new side quests you can take on - Carved in Stone and Skin Trade. The former of which doesn’t even require you to leave Tabor, but the latter will send you southwest to The Fields of Corava. Not the worst idea if you want to take care of some hunts out that way - this is the first chance you’ll get to encounter The Pack, and you can also find The Ten of Clubs near Vamare and Soul Stingers just east of the Empty Hovel in the same region. These diversions will, of course, serve to extend an already lengthy quest. If that’s not enough mid-quest busywork for you, there are three new side quests that have popped up in other regions which you can now pursue:
It’s probably easier to just travel back to The Hideaway to check on and deal with these side quests, and if you claimed the Tabor obelisk, you can always just teleport right back. Plus, you have Joshua and Jill accompanying you right now, which should serve to make these side quests and hunts easier to tackle, should you need the aid.
How to Reach The Gilded Path - FF16 Cloak and Dagger Main Quest Walkthrough¶
When you’re ready to leave, exit via the southeastern gate (triggering another scene in the process) to reach The Gilded Path. From here you’ll need to head east (turn left) if you want to reach your destination (going west will only lead to The Fields of Corava and the den where The Pack dwells). The route east will soon veer south and you’ll need to fend off some groups of Orcish Fodder and Orcish Mesmerizers en route to another fork. Both forks lead to the same place, the right fork just takes a more circuitous, enemy-filled (Helldivers, Leg Eaters, Orcish Fodder) route. Either way, you’ll end up at The Gilded Path obelisk. A scene will play and you’ll subsequently find yourself back on the world map, now able to travel to The Free Cities of Kanver. Or anywhere else, for that matter - now that you can just travel to Kanver on a whim, there’s no reason not to deal with any side content that has caught your attention.
When you travel to Kanver, this quest will and and the next main quest, Evenfall, will begin. Before you do this, however, here’s a rundown of all the new side quests and hunts that unlocked (or which you can now finally complete) during Cloak and Dagger, if you want to be a completionist:
