Silver Linings is one of the last side quests that will become available in the game. On top of this, you have to complete another quest before it will even appear in the Hideaway. The quest itself isn’t that hard to complete, you just need to hunt down a rare item. The guide below goes over how to start Silver Linings and where to find the Silver Chocobo Feather in Final Fantasy XVI.
How to Start Silver Linings¶
To start Silver Linings you must first complete the side quest Trial and Error. After this you must make your way to the games end where Silver Linings will unlock during the main quest, Back to Their Origin. Be careful not to go further in the story as you will reach the point of no return. Once this happens Silver Lining and other quests will be unavailable for Clive to complete. Once you’re ready to start this quest, go to the Hideaway and find Gav at the bar. You will need to choose the Silver Lining dialogue option to start this quest.
Gav will tell you that he needs to get a Silver Chocobo Feather to make a present for Emma. This is a rare item that is hard to find. Gav has a bit of entail about the rare bird, which sends you back to Martha’s Rest to gather information about a sighting. Once you are ready, go to the world map and travel back to Martha’s Rest to look for the Silver Chocobo.
Where to Find The Silver Chocobo in Silver Linings¶
Once you reach Martha’s Rest, there will be an NPC directly in front of you to speak with. After this, head up to the market area near the elevator that takes you down to Sorrowise Bay. The third and final NPC can be found near the bridge that leads you to Eastpool. Once you speak to all three, head across the bridge to Greenheaves. Keep walking forward until Clive spots several Chocobo tracks on the ground. You can ignore any enemies you come across on your way to the quest marker.
You will now want to follow the Chocobo tracks. They will lead you to an abandoned building, when you go inside, examine the quest marker to find a Silver Chocobo Feather. After a short cutscene featuring the birds that dropped it, head back to speak with Gav at the hideaway. He will complete his gift and then ask you to visit the Infirmary to give it to Emma. Go to the Infirmary and find her in the back half. Once Gav gives her his gift, a cutscene will trigger that wraps up his character arc.
For completing this quest you will receive 5,600 XP, 30 Renown, and Winter Mead. Winter Mead isn’t an item that you can use in the game, instead, it is displayed on the trophy wall that’s found in Clive’s room. While you’re here, be sure to pick up the rest of the side quests around the Hideaway. Each main character has a quest here that helps wrap up their story.
