The Duty Undying II side quest in Final Fantasy 16 can be acquired in Tabor once you reach the Back to their Origin. Here you’ll find a person named Cyril, who is a senior member of the Undying. He’ll bring you up to speed on their research into Ultima and he asks Clive to look for the missing person who was investigating a cult. We’ll take you through the necessary steps to completion and how to defeat Titus on this page.
Cyril tells Clive that a high-ranking member of his order, the Third Chair, has gone missing in Ash on another of the Undying’s so-called “surveys.” He directs Clive to Mikkelburg, the acolyte’s last known location.
How to Start the Duty Undying II Side Quest in Final Fantasy 16¶
First things first, you’ll need to have completed the main story mission Streets of Madness, and be on Back to their Origin. When those requirements have been met, head over to Cyril who can be found in Tabor. Speak with him and you’ll learn that their investigations into Ultima have continued and that they sent someone to look into a cult but hasn’t returned, so he requests that you look for him.
Where to Find The Third Chair¶
You’ll now want to use the nearby shop to stock up on Potions, then fast travel to The Edge of Infinity Obelisk and head north until you reach the Halfcombe sub-region. Here you’ll want to head through the doors to the west of the area to trigger a scene. You’ll notice a lot of people are praying, but they are of no concern to you at the moment, so make your way over to the south of the area and enter the house. Inside you’ll want to speak with the Hooded Man and you’ll discover that he is choosing to remain at the village to keep the citizens safe.
How to Defeat to Titus¶
However, whilst you’re speaking with him you’ll hear a loud noise and you’ll find yourself fighting off multiple Fallen Echoes. These are just regular enemies, so group them up with Ignition and then use Diamond Dust to quickly clear them out. You’ll now be greeted by Titus which is an elite enemy, so it’ll require more caution and a proper strategy to take down. To begin, you’ll want to work on staggering it and Diamond Dust is one of the strongest attacks available to achieve that at this stage of the game, so use that, then you’ll want to chip away at the rest of the bar with Magic Burst or Gouge if you have it equipped.
Upon staggering it you’ll want to quickly place down Lightning Rod in front of it, then activate your Limit Break before unleashing Gigaflare if you have this upgraded, then it should take its health below half. Now you’ll want to repeat this process two or three times to successfully take it down. However, whilst you’re doing so you’ll want to watch out for the following attacks:
- Lunge - The most common attack you’ll see from Titus is a simple lunge which it’ll follow up with a swing with its sword.
- Charge - Titus will drag its weapon along the floor whilst charging towards you, then it’ll set off mini explosions afterwards.
- Scathefire - Once you’ve dealt a fair bit of damage of Titus it’ll start using the ability Scathefire which will involve shooting a wall of fire in a straight line directly towards you, then there will be multiple explosions all over the battlefield.
Once you’ve defeated all the enemies, a scene will play out, then you’ll want to return to Cyril back in Tabor and inform him with everything that’s happened, then the quest will come to a close. Here you’ll be rewarded with the Clayhearth Signboard Curiosity and an Orichalcum.
