The Rekindling the Flame side quest in Final Fantasy 16 can be acquired in Martha’s Rest once you reach the Cloak and Dagger main quest. Here you’ll find a person named Martha and she’ll ask you to deal with some local bandits. We’ll take you through the necessary steps to completion and to defeating Two Scoops.
Martha and Wade have a plan to relocate the Bearers and Guardians who have lately taken refuge in the Rest to Eastpool - their only obstacle, the bandits that have taken residence there.
How to Start the Rekindling the Flame Side Quest in Final Fantasy 16¶
First things first, you’ll need to have completed the main story mission Things Fall Apart, and be on Cloak and Dagger. When those requirements have been met, head over to Martha’s Rest and speak with Martha to begin this quest. Here you’ll learn that a lot Bearers and Guardians have decided to stay at Martha’s Rest. However, there isn’t enough room, so she wants to create another home in Eastpool, but her plans have been put on hold due to the bandits in the area, so she requests that Clive clears them out.
How to Defeat Two Scoops¶
Once you’re done talking to Martha, go back outside and talk to Wade, then stock up on potions before fast traveling to the Eastpool Obelisk. Head up the stairs and you’ll come across multiple Unsavory Settlers. These are just regular enemies, so you’ll want to use Ignition to group them up, then activate any of your available AoE Abilities, such as Flames of Rebirth, Scarlet Cyclone or Aerial Blast to make quick work of them.
Unfortunately, after you’ve defeated the bandits your work isn’t done as Two Scoops will spawn in which is an elite enemy. Here you’ll want to work on staggering it which can be done by getting the bar down to the halfway point with Magic Bursts, then use Deadly Embrace to temporarily stun it and use Gouge. You’ll now want to place down Lightning Rod directly in front of it and use your Limit Break before unleashing Gigaflare. This should deplete most of its health, so just repeat the process twice and it’ll die.
However, throughout the battle it’ll attempt to defend itself with some of its own attacks. These shouldn’t cause you too much trouble, but its best to beware of them to avoid taking any unnecessary damage. Below you will find a rundown of what they are and how to avoid them:
- Leap - Two Scoops will jump up and launch themselves towards you, so just be prepared to dodge to the side.
- Electro Orbs - Throughout the battle Two Scoops will shoot out multiple electro orbs that’ll slowly home in on you, so just keep your distance until they disappear.
- Bite - If you’re standing close to Two Scoops then it’ll lunge towards you and attempt to bite you. As long as you aren’t standing still for too long, then this shouldn’t hit you.
- Laser Beam - Once you’ve taken Two Scoops health below half it’ll gain the ability to shoot out laser beams in a straight line. Just keep your distance or your health will gradually deplete.
Once you’ve defeated all the enemies, explore the surrounding area for chests as they may contain useful accessories, then return to Martha’s Rest and speak with Martha to bring the quest to a close. Here you’ll be rewarded with the following crafting materials - Steelsilk x40, Bloody Hide x80 and Meteorite x1.
