After your ordeal with the Drake’s Breath Mothercrystal during the main quest Fire and Ice you’ll return to The Hideout for another short, transitional quest. This page will cover the main quest After the Storm in Final Fantasy XVI, covering what new side quests, crafting recipes and hunts are available to you at this time.
New Crafting Recipes During After the Storm - FF16 After the Storm Main Quest Walkthrough¶
Leave Clive’s Chambers and you should be notified that Charon and Blackthorn have new items for you to purchase/craft. Of particular interest is the Platinum Sword, an upgrade to Levinbolt, especially if you reinforce it to +2 quality. You can also craft a Platinum Belt and Platinum Cannons, neither of which are arguably sufficient upgrades to justify expending the resources.
New Side Quests and Hunts During After the Storm - FF16 After the Storm Main Quest Walkthrough¶
As for side quests, you can talk to Hortense, Keeper of the Stores on the Boarding Deck to start Cut from the Cloth, while Nigel, the Head Botanist over at The Backyard will assign you the quest The Root of the Problem. If that’s not enough busywork, you can also hunt Sekhret and Severian. Completing all these should yield sufficient Renown to reach the next reward tier, netting you a Cleric’s Medallion. The next main quest, Capital Punishment, involves a very powerful foe, so any extra XP and AP you earn beforehand will be more than welcome.
How to Complete the Main Quest After the Storm - FF16 After the Storm Main Quest Walkthrough¶
Complete whatever side content you care to, then go about finishing this quest. You’ll need to travel to the Infirmary to trigger a scene, where the actions of an old enemy will give Clive cause to finally return home, albeit under less than ideal circumstances. Before you go, however, you’ll need to talk to Otto in The Mess, who really just serves to direct you to Vivian in The Map Room. One long-winded over-explanation of the situation at hand and you’ll be ready to go. The next main quest, Capital Punishment, begins as soon as you travel to Rosaria.
