Overlooking the road and waterfalls in the Onward Main Quest.

Exploring Laetny’s Cleft

You start off by following a narrow desert path on your way to meet up with Goetz. Shortly after you start the mission, you will run across two NPCs, go ahead and pick up the Get Cart side quest from them. You will want to follow the linear path forward to Boklad, soon you will reach a ruined settlement. Here several Desert Bandits will attack you, including a Desert Djinn. The Desert Djinn is a larger enemy with more health, avoid his weapon swings and take out the enemies around him. Once you’ve mopped up the small fry, use your Eikon abilities to make quick work of the Desert Djinn. Once the ruins are cleared out, move past the barrier, and you will be back on the road toward Boklad. A bit up the road, you will be attacked by some Fallen Hunters who are easy to defeat. Once you reach the large waterfall, a cutscene will play and you will be able to see the road.

(1 of 3) Head towards Boklad.

Follow the road down to Boklad, and head into the market area to find Goetz. You can ignore the Bloodfangs, they won’t attack you unless provoked. You will learn that his trader pass has been stolen, and go to speak with "Eloise" iconEloise to learn how to get it back. Before you start concentrating on the next sub-quest that pops up be sure to grab the two chests in town. Head towards the well near Eloise’s place there will be a chest with a Goblin Coin and the Sand and Stone Orchestrion Roll right beside the well. Cross the street to the left of the well, there will be another chest with 15 Spools of Steelsilk beside the house

To Catch A Thief

During the next part of the quest, you will head back into the market space, where you will talk to the furniture maker and the fishmonger. Once you’re done speaking to the Fishmonger, loop around to the right side of the market and speak with your first child, follow the road back toward the town gate and you will find the second child. The third child can be found at the town gate but will run behind the Chocobo’s Keepers building, follow him and a short cutscene will play.

(1 of 7) Speak with the furniture maker.

You will now need to head out into the desert to find some more bandits, you will quickly run into the first group. This is easy to wipe out, do so and keep heading up the path. You will quickly run into the main group of Cast Stones. Once you wipe them out, you will be able to return back to Boklad and speak with Eloise to get another trader’s pass. You will then be sent on your way to the Crystalline Dominion to complete Fire in The Sky.
