The Punisher Trophy is one of the combat related trophies that you can unlock in Final Fantasy XVI. To obtain it, you need to punish an enemy 10 times which can only be done when they are downed. We’ll take you through the necessary steps to pull off a punishing attack.
How to Land a Punish Attack in Final Fantasy 16¶
Unlike a lot of the other combat trophies in Final Fantasy 16, this one can be done at any point throughout the story, as it doesn’t require any specific Eikon to do it. In order to pull it off, all you need to do is approach a downed enemy when in combat and press square to perform a Punisher. This will trigger a short animation of you stabbing the enemy into the chest and will most likely kill them or take away a large chunk of their health.
However, you may be wondering how you can down the enemy in the first place, so you’ll want to make sure you have the Downthrust Ability which costs 30 AP (Ability Points), then you’ll want to approach any regular enemy and press both X + Square together to down them. You’ll now have to be quick and do the steps above to perform a Punisher.
You’ll now want to repeat this 10 times to earn the Punisher Trophy. Note, this cannot be done on elite enemies (the ones with the yellow stagger bar) or bosses, so you’ll want to wait until you’re fighting groups of regular monsters or soldiers. These can typically be found when you’re exploring the large open areas that’ll you’ll visit whilst progressing through the main story. Additionally, you’ll be put up against lots of regular enemies in side quests, so make sure you do them when they become available. You can find a list of side quests here.
