There are a total of 15 legendary weapons in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some of these weapons will take a bit of time to get them, since they are locked behind multiple quests, while others might be a bit easier to acquire, if you know where to look. One such weapon is the Lightscale Trident, a spear that was used by the Champion, Mipha.
Where to Find the Lightscale Trident Champion Weapon in Tears of the Kingdom¶
Before you can even think about getting this weapon, you will need to complete the Water Temple, which is one of the four places you need to visit during the Regional Phenomena main quest. Upon clearing the Water Temple, you will clear the sludge that has been plaguing the Zora’s Domain. Once you have done this, return to !Zora’s Domain and look for the Dento, who will be in the little room behind the general shop. Upon talking to him, you will begin the Glory of the Zora side quest, which tasks you with collecting some materials to construct the Lightscale Trident. Specifically, he will need a normal Zora Spear, 5 Flint, and 3 Diamonds.
Where to Find a Zora Spear in Tears of the Kingdom¶
The Zora Spear is a normal weapon that you might have found while exploring the area around !Zora’s Domain. If you haven’t touched any of the side quests in the area, then you might find one right by the Upland Zorana Skyview Tower, called Mired in Muck. You simply need to free Bazz by splashing some water to free him from the goop, and he will reward you with a Zora Spear. If you already got that one and it broke, then you will need to find a replacement. There are some chests which can yield one, but those are one-offs and you won’t be able to get another from them.
If you look into the caves in the region, you might find enemies that have the Zora Spear equipped. Likewise, there is a chance the Like Likes that spawn in those caves could drop one from their chest (this is random, so maybe save before opening them). However, there is a single Lizalfos that will always have a Zora Spear, if you know where to look. Of course, with any enemy, they will only respawn after a Blood Moon, meaning you can only get the guaranteed one once every seven in-game days (the natural occurrence of the Blood Moon).
From the !Upland Zorana Skyview Tower, go southwest, across the Zora River, where you should see a windy path marked on your map. Follow that path southeast and as it turns the bend to go northwest, you should pass a little rocky bridge. As soon as you see that rocky bridge, head south and you should see the Lizalfos underneath a little outcropping, with a cooking pot. This is the enemy that will always be wielding the spear.
As for Diamonds, you can visit the How to Get Diamonds page for more info. Flint is very easy to get, since you can just go to any ore node to get it. Once you have the required items, return to Dento and hand over the items, with him giving you the Lightscale Trident. The special ability on this is Water Warrior, meaning the attack power will double whenever Link is wet. This means you will have extra power whenever it rains, you’re standing in water, or even in moist caves. Also, if you use the Vow of Sidon’s ability, you can also trigger the buff.
How to Repair the Lightscale Trident in Tears of the Kingdom¶
Yes, you went through a little bit of trouble to get the spear, but when it breaks, you are not going to be able to get it back easily. Should this happen, you will need to return to Dento and give him the same items to craft another one. Also, you will be unable to feed the Lightscale Trident to a Rock Octorok to have it repair it, since it will just spit it back out right away. However, there is a way to trick the game into repairing the trident, which is to fuse the weapon to something else that is repairable.
This could be anything, like a basic sword, or even a Tree Branch. You just need to make sure that the other weapon is the base and the trident is the thing you’re fusing. Once you’ve done that, you can simply feed it to the !Rock Octorok, then wait until it spits it back out. From there, you can head to Tarrey Town and use the Break-a-Part Shop to remove the trident from the base weapon. You will now have the trident back with full durability, which is definitely a lot better than farming the materials again.
